So the SD folks over at the associated HDHR forum suggested that I uninstall Norton and see what happens. For S&G's I went ahead and complied. So uninstalling Norton automatically turns Windows Firewall (WF) on. With WF on, tuners are not released (same as when I have Stealth Blocked Ports enabled in Norton). I played around a little bit to see if I could get WF to work. Didn't get there. I looked at the inbound rules and and it appeared that ICMP was allowed. I didn't investigate much further (I guess by the traffic here and elsewhere that there are suggested WF settings for MP... I'll look into that). I just went ahead and turned off WF. With WF off, the tuners were getting released. So I guess that shows - for what it's worth - that it's not exclusive to Norton. I should again note that when I say release that it is different then when HDHR QuickTV releases a tuner (LED goes out immediately). When MP releases a tuner the tuner LED blinks for some time before going out (I guess indicating that MP still has it reserved but not active). I still wonder if that is by design. Also, the intermittent excessively long channel change issue that I collected data on still remains...
