Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use MP in any way.
2. Turn off TV.
3. Turn TV back on.
4. Windows error appears.

Using Windows 7, MP 1.4.0, all plugins are updated. It actually also did this with 1.3.0, I just was too lazy to post about it.

I'm going through a Panasonic receiver w/ HDMI.

In the log folder, after a crash, I sort by date modified, and there is never anything special after a crash...

Here is the copy/paste from the "this application has encountered a problem..." dialog in windows 7:

    Hello shackrock

First impressions from the first crash report suggest it might be audio related (simply due to the audiokse.dll reference).
    Could you please:
    1. Describe your audio setup in full. Post-processing, AV receiver, TV, connections...
    2. Confirm: are you running latest drivers for your audio output device?
    3. Post full debug logs with the watchdog so we have the MediaPortal context for the crash.
    Thanks,
    mm
    :)

    Ok hardware setup:
Shuttle SH67H3 PC (http://www.amazon.com/SHUTTLE-SH67H...ie=UTF8&qid=1372122094&sr=8-1&keywords=SH67H3) connected via HDMI to a Pioneer VSX-1022-K, and then an HDMI going into my Vizio 42" LCD TV.

I'm using the latest audio drivers available from shuttle, posted 4-20-2011... the PC was purchased in 2013. (http://global.shuttle.com/news/productsDownload?productId=1477&osId=7&panelId=2).

I've restarted MP in debug mode. The GF is watching some stuff now so I'll post the crash log by tomorrow hopefully. Thanks.

Hi shackrock, what helped for me, was to disable the 2 AMD Services. (Fuel + External Event) Which Catalyst Version are you running?

Nothing AMD on the shuttle. It's all Intel stuff. Using the latest video driver from their drivers page dated 2012-04-19.

I suspect you will be asked to reproduce this using the debug mode for reproducible problems within MediaPortal, and attach the logs to your post.

oops i see you been asked already for them @mm1352000

well, of course as soon as I start watchdog (I chose developer mode so all my plugins would remain activated), it doesn't work. I'll let it run a few days, and post back if the problem comes back....

Make sure you checked "stop playback on removal of an audio device" also try not to use skin sound effects (have never checked on that).

Already discussed it several times in the Bugreport forum. When you turn off your TV the external audio renderer gets removed, as a consequence when sound is send to the now non existing device you run into an error that takes down MP with it (to a certain extend something can be done in MP)

If you would have provided logs, they would exactly show that. Always provide logs when you are having issues.

Also it might play a role how fast you turn on/off a display or AVR in sequence, depending on the implementation here. Or even the order you do it.

With a 100% compliant HDMI firmware in all your devices doing proper handshake the and the above mentioned option this will not happen. Sadly, a lot of people - including me - have older device for which the firmware was never updated.

Already explained a bit more in detail in the bug report forum.

PS: In your case do you have an CEC stuff activated on your AVR/TV? If so turn it off for a test as certain buggy implementations send wrong stuff out when CEC to power on/off devices is used.

It came back, but after I had stopped watch dog (it runs a little slower with it running, from what I can tell...). I'll turn watchdog back on for a while this time. Anyway, here is the error info this time:
