MP crashes with TV H264 after a while (1 Viewer)

Hi everybody,

my MP with TV Engine on the same machine crashes while TV @ H 264 ASTRA HD after a time between 1 and 4 hours. The error description from winXP looks like a source filter problem.

Configuration:
WinXP SP2 Home edition
MP V0.2.3.0 + MediaPortal SVN-Snapshot: 01-08-2008 01-04
TVEngine3 Snapshot: 01-08-2008 01-08h Revision 16951

i have tested the same procedure with my floppy-dtv-S2.
i had i tuned to the astra HD promo channel from the whole night (9 hours) and it is still timeshifting.
(using MPV/MPA/Coreavc 1.6 here)

please re-run the test in the following steps:

1. remove all 3rd party plugins (if you have some installed)
2. remove the MDAPI filter if you are using it
3. use the official Blue2 skin
4. install latest build of TV-Server and the Client Plugin
5. apply the latest build of MediaPortal
6. start MediaPortal with the "MediaPortal Debug" Shortcut from the Windows Start Menu
7. tune the Astra HD Promo channeö
8. wait for the crash
9. attach the generated log-zipfile to this thread.

MP TV freezed in this case after 10 minutes @ Astra Promo.

Doesnt make sense. In all my round about 30 tests I leaved MP allone. It had stopped without user interaktion.
On the other hand after freezing I had to restart PC to get TV running again.
What else can bring it to freeze?
For example Source-Filter?

at first we should clarify what you mean by "freezing".
to me that means that MediaPortal stopped responding

and based on your logs, this did not happen.

this then looks like you simply closed MediaPortal and therfore stopped LiveTV.
so MP didnt freeze since you have been able to shut it down.


do you mean by "MediaPortal freezes" that only the LiveTV Video/Audio stops and not that the main aplication stops responding?

if yes, have you tried to:

• use the skipstep (left arrow-key) to go back in the timeshiftbuffer
• change the channel to an none dvb-s2 channel
• change the chanel to Pro7HD / SAT.1HD
• does this only happen on AstraHD+ or also on Pro7HD / SAT.1HD ?

if you "update" your installation with the latest build of TV-Server, ClientPlugin and MediaPortal, then you get the latest versions of TSwriter and TSReader filters which got a massive stability update during the last days.

hopefuly this helps with the issue you encounter.

yes with freeze i mean live tv. mp itself still response. you can also choose a tv channel but no playback of it with error message cant find ..... After that you have to restart pc to get live tv again. it also happend at pro7 hd.

in the mean time i tested none stop live tv astra promo h264 with the newest snaps. i got freezing less often against my former tests. i can say that i get now freezing 1 time in 24h permanent live tv always playing astra hd. so it is an improvement.
Do you want me to report more test results? is there an other idea to get more datas to improve again?

that sounds like the 24hour PCR rollover which could trigger this. (will talk with tourette about that)

and going 5 minutes back in the timeshift buffer doesnt bring the image/audio back?
