MP does not resume from sleep (1 Viewer)

I have a big problem with my MP. I cant make it wake up automaticly for scheduled recordings :-(

I have tried with both the internal power scheduler and with pvr-scheduler 1.70, but neither seems to work.

I put my system into S3 sleep using the remote and it works fine to wake it up using the remote, but nothing happens when i schedule a recording. Is there a guide to make this work with the latest MP somewhere? Cause all the info i can find is regarding older versions of MP.

download and install standbyhandler... does the trick for alot of people

The main Powerscheduler to worry about, is the one inside TVServer config, make sure that is enabled for standby or hibernate, then i suggest you set a recording that is due to start in 20 minutes, check it has registered in TVServer config\scheduled.

Then with a standby delay of 5 minutes set in powerscheduler, walk away make coffee\tea\glass of fruit juice, talk to friends etc, hopefully pc will have gone into standby and then resumed without errors showing.

MPStandbyHandler is only useful for people who have hardware failure, after windows resumes, so that should not be your issue, unless there is something you are not telling us, as it does resume windows, just no recording takes place.

Hi Martin,

I had similar problems with the Power Scheduler not seeming to function.
Sometimes my PC would wake up, sometimes it wouldn't.
Looking through the logs [check the "extensive logging" feature/box in the Powerschedule TVS/Client config], I started noticing that in some cases - although it was aware there was a wake-up event - it didn't set it the wake-up timer properly. Turns out that you can only be sure this is done properly if you let Power Scheduler handle the complete standby/hibernate/sleep routine.
In my case, I sometimes put the machine to sleep using my remote and not by letting the power scheduler handle it. I noticed that in these cases the wake-up events were not always correctly set.
I currently have configured Power Scheduler TVS/Client to shutdown after 5 mins in non-activity and only if MP is on the Home Screen [client config setting].

So, bottom-line:
1. Activate "extensive logging" to get more info on what is going on. Entries can be found in tv.log.
2. Let Power Scheduler shutdown your HTPC instead of forcing it with the remote.

I haven't had any issues with MP not waking up since then.

Coincides with my observations when looking at the same issue of powering off by remote.
The additional thing I found was that this is specific to Vista and that under XP the application still gets a chance to set it's wakeup time properly. Under Vista it did not.

So,
1) If using Vista, always let power scheduler shutdown the PC.
2) If using XP it works either way.

That's interesting, because i have not seen this happen, and i use a remote all the time, wonder if it could be related to the type of account used, mines full admin, the hidden one that needs to be enabled, so it behaves more like xp.

My take on it is that under vista, if your PC goes to sleep mode "really fast" then applications don't get time to get their foot in the door before vista pulls the plug. Hence some people have problems intermittently, some not at all.

My media pc goes to sleep in about 2 seconds under vista and takes upwards of 15 seconds under XP.

I don't use hybrid sleep so that would explain the additional 8 secs you see but that would purely be paging out memory to disk with the apps still suspended in the first couple of secs. However despite my "profound" theories it will be worth trying to see if hybrid is the differentiating factor.
