Hi Guys,

I upgraded to Version 1 Final just before Christmas and had Powerscheduler working OK up to about a week ago when it started playing up similar to what you are all experiancing now. I had continual headaches with RC3 and RC4 with this issue.

Anyhow, today I managed to record 2 shows out of 3. I noticed in the log file attached, the show at 2:30pm did not record and the machine did not wakeup for the following show at 7:00pm - I had to wake the machine myself at 7:05pm to get it to record. Also, the machine had no sound after I woke it manually by pushing the power button. Also, I rebooted the machine this morning and left Powerscheduler to put the machine to sleep - this usually results in the first few recordings working.

Anyhow, I have attached my log files which seems to show the machine being put to sleep just before the recording at 2:30pm (which caused all subsequent recordings to fail ) i.e. it did not know when to record the next time.

1. There appears to be a "HeartbeatMonitor" max timeout - what is this???? Can it be extended??

Regards

Graham

Hi All,

I had the same issue again tonight at 7:00pm where the machine would not wakeup.

Today it recorded at 11:30am fine until 12:30pm, however the 3:00pm recording failed and the machine did not wakeup at all at 7:00pm. I notice in the logs at 2:59pm the machine seemed to be forced to sleep.

Please see logs. Wouls love to know what is happening here!!

Cheers

Graham

    Hi gperkinson,

can please post your Powerscheduler settings.
Some question to the log from 12. Jan:
    - Did you put the system to hibernate mode manualy at 2:59pm?
    - Are there other programs running on your PC which are waking up or hibernating the PC?

Please enable in Extensive Logging in Powerscheduler. Wait untill problems happens once again and post afterwards the tv.log and the tv.bak file.

    Cheers,

    Bavarian

    Hi Bavarian,

Thanks for the reply - much appreciated.

To answer some of your questions:

    - No, I always let the machine go to sleep using Powerscheduler
    - No other processes I'm aware of which are waking or hibinating the machine

    Powerscheduler settings as follows:

    General Tab

    - shutdown server after being idle 7 minutes
    - wakeup server for various events ticked
    - shutdown mode Suspend
    - allow standby hours 23 to 18 (this works fine)

    Advanced Tab

    - forced shutdown - disabled
    - enable extensive logs - enabled
    - pre-wakeup time in seconds = 60
    - pre-no shutdown time = 300
    - check interval time = 60
    - reinitialise service on wakeup - enabled

    EPG

    - Prevent standby when grabbing EPG - enabled
    - Wakeup system for EPG grabbing = 06:00
    - Each day enabled
    - Run command set to run bat file to [ickup TVNZ file

    Processes

    Setup TV, Configuration, iexplore

I will drop some files next time an issue occurs - will schedule something tonight. Unforunately the issue happened today, but I re-booted the machine which has reset the log files.

As mentioned, this does not happen all the time.

Look forward to any response you may have and thanks again for looking into this - it's been a bit frustrating!!

    Regards

    Graham

    Hi Bravarian,

OK, I scheduled last night after re-booting 2 shows with my EPG Grab inbetween as follows:

    5:35am Emmerdale
    6:00am EPG Grab
    6:30am Hi 5

The schedules above I thought would be a good test as there is enough time inbetween for the machine to go to sleep and then wakeup again.

What happened is that the 5:35am recording worked, the EPG Grab worked, however the 6:30am recording did not work. I was making breakfast at 6:45am and the machine was in sleep mode. Thinking about this, the machine usually fails during the day which is after the EPG grab set for 6:00am, so I'm wondering if this is the issue??

I have setup my EPG Grab using a "bat" file which simply calls "xmlTVNZ.exe" using the command line. Would this have any effect on the machine? I notice in the logs that the machine closes down very quickly and there is nothing about the next recording time in the log file.

Anyhow, I have attached all the "xmlTVNZ" files used for the EPG grab and all the log files in the TVServer directory of Program Data.

I really appreciate you looking at this.

    Regards

    Graham

    Hi Again Bravarian,

I also noticed in the "xml" Plugin in TVServer that under the remote tab there is an option to grab directly from a site - not sure how to do this with my current method or whether it works that way or not? The method I'm using uses the "exe" file where everything is built in I think.

Anyhow, if I scheduled it in the xml Plugin, do you think this might work better with Powerscheduler? It's also strange that the machine shuts down so quickly after 6:00am - it's almost like it's forced into sleep without performing everything it needs to, including setting the next recording. I was also wondering if the EPG download task should be added to the "Processes" Tab of Powerscheduler as well?? ... but unsure how to do this.

    Regards

    Graham

    Hi Bavarian,

I have pinpointed the issue :D

As suspected, it was around the EPG shutting down quickly. My thoughts were that it must be something to do with Windows overriding Powerscheder, so I stopped the execution of the "bat" file in the command line of the EPG tab in Powerscheduler and put it instead in Vista Task Scheduler and it's now all fixed. Infact, this has also fixed my issue with no sound after wakeup which happens periodically.

When setting the task, you cannot use the "Basic" option, but instead the normal, plus you have to be logged in under the user you use for Media Portal.

    Anyway, all fixed - wahoo!!

    Cheers

    Graham

Now I wonder if you had put "xmlTVNZ.exe" into the process tab of powerscheduler, it would have worked.

Something like this does need to be documented, as it obviously does cause major headaches, as you found :(

Yeah, I looked for this but it was not listed (as you have to select from a list - correct??)

Happy to give it a shot, as this morning Windows Task Manager did not execute the grab i.e. it scheduled the first one, but did not re-schedule the next after running the first. I edited the properites, selected "run daily" and it's scheduled for tomorrow - will see whether it reschedules the next day tomorrowq morning.
