Hi Folks,
I thought I'd pop back here and give you an update on this problem. I installed Windows XP Pro SP3 then reinstalled MP 1.2.3. Since then I have had no problems at all in returning from standby, and my system has worked perfectly ever since.
So it would appear that there's some issue between my hardware/Vista & Win7/MP1.2.3. So it looks like I'll be sticking with XP
