MP "Freezes" overnight (1 Viewer)

I am encountering an odd problem, with the following symptoms:

I watch videos on MP of an evening. When I am done, I turn off the TV and the Amplifier but leave the PC on. When I come back the next evening, MP acknowledges my first command (via remote, keyboard or mouse) with the usual "bleep" noise... and freezes. I've waited for up to 20 minutes before doing anything.

Calling up Task Manager shows MP as "not responding". I can easily kill the process and then restart MP, at which point MP behaves itself for the evening's viewing... until the next evening.

I have included the log files from various days. Hopefully someone will be able to tell me what is going on. :)

    Hello Neoculture

Your MediaPortal log files are so huge that I can barely open them with Notepad++.
Please can you temporarily disable the Minidisplay plugin and delete your old log files, then produce new log files. Hopefully this will allow us to open the log files and more clearly see the problem.

I know how to disable the Minidisplay... but I am not sure how I go about finding the log files in order to delete them.

...but I am not sure how I go about finding the log files in order to delete them.
    Open MP configuration.
Click "user config files" in the top left corner.
Go into the log (or logs - can't remember the exact name) sub-folder.
Delete all the files you find there.

    :)

Additionally, can you make a note of when you turn off TV & AMP, then turn them back on, as hopefully this will assist mm1352000 in focusing on events.

Also - you say 'over night', have you tried to turn off TV & AMP over short period during the day {as it could be something external to MePo that run's in the small hours as scheduled task}?

    Cheers - J.

@JimCatMP: I shall take note of the both times.

As for checking on it during the day, I generally use it in the evening. I'll do some checks during the weekend, but the PC is only used for MP (and associated plugins).

    UPDATE:
Turned off the TV & AMP at 10:31pm last night. Turned them back on this morning at 6:17am and MP was still responsive. Will try again after I get back from work (it normally is frozen by then) and also supply logs at that time.

    UPDATE 2:
The saying "a watched pot never boils" seems appropriate here. Having been asked to keep an eye on MP to see if I can bracket a time when it freezes, I turned the TV & Amp off at 10:31pm last and checked MP at 6:17am, 7:30am, 6pm and 11:12pm to day.

    And it hasn't frozen.

Could the simple act of checking that it is still responding (rather than leaving it alone for 18 hours) be enough to stop it freezing? I will leave it alone until tomorrow evening and check again.

    Maybe.
The other thing is that attempting to append to move a ~1GB log may make MP very slow, so cleaning up the logs and disabling MiniDisplay could have had more benefits than you might think.
