    Hello,

I have a problem with TV series after I had done an upgrade to MP 1.2.0 RC. The problem is that Mediaportal freezes sometimes when I enter a serie.. I have to press control+Alt+del to stop mediaportal, and start it again..

Is this a known problem? Or do you need the logfiles..

Due to the countless combinations that users end up with (even on a default installation), no situation is the same.

So yes, please re-create the problem with debug mode enabled in MediaPortal and MP-TVSeries config and provide *ALL* the log files after you recreated the problem in as few steps as possible.

    Allright, here they are!

Remember, I do not have this problem always, so that's a strange thing.. I have made a couple of logfiles..

The problem when making the first two was that I get a windows error; "Mediaportal has stopped working" but after I close that dialog, everything was fine..

The problem when I was making the last two logs, was a freeze of Mediaportal, and I have closed it in taskmanager..

I hope you can find something!

I have found out a new thing..

When I open TV series, and scroll very fast to a serie and enter it, nothing going wrong..

But when I wait a few seconds on a serie, and enter it than, It is always going wrong..

    Maybe good to know.. :)

The only obvious things I noticed was that MediaPortal seems to have a memory leak on the textures. I had the same problem on v1.2beta, but now that I'm on 1.2RC the majority is gone. You are still on the v1.1.x branch, so it might be an idea to take this oppertunity to upgrade.

Due to your explanation of it only happens when you wait a bit, check your import delay settings otherwise in MP-TVSeries. Adding a delay for first import scan might solve your problems as well then.

    Thanks for you quick responce!

I have allready done an upgrade to 1.2.0RC.. i didn't have this issue with MP 1.2.0 beta, so that's a bit strange..

I should check the import delay.. Maybe that solve the problem.. What do you mean with a memory leak on textures? I have played a bit with the backdrop/artwork loading delay.. is that what you mean?

    Best regards,

    Marcel

I keep forgetting that MediaPortal v1.1.7+ is actually 1.2, so ignore me on that.

As for delay I meant -> MP-TVSeries config -> Online Data -> Enable local/online scan when starting MediaPortal -> Delay Import by xxxx.

Sometimes on those weird random errors, the only solution in finding out problem is to strip things down to bare basics. Once thing work stable, then you start re-enabling back to your normal setup until things fail, and most of the time the last thing you enabled will be the problem/cause.

But when you can not reproduce easy, it becomes a very problematic and time consuming matter.

At least verify you have the very latest version on every part that you use. Your log revealed you are using a ton of plugins, and I've end up with some weird issues myself that ended up being a combination of things. For example the Fanart plugin would crash MediaPortal, but only when InfoService was enabled and I ran a new import on MP-TVSeries.

I have the same problem since upgrading to MP 1.2 RC.
MediaPortal crashes almost everytime when entering a series episode list, sometimes 3 or 4 times in a row.

I've disabled every plugin, even the inbuilt ones from MediaPortal and tried with Black Glass Nova and Deafult skin.
Changing from Filmstrip to List view doesn't help and it doesn't matter how many episodes there are.

    I've attached the logs:

Well, I think I have the solution for my problem:

In the configuration under the General tab, "Play first unwatched episode" was set under; "On play action on series or season view". I have changed that in; "Do nothing" and didn't have that problem anymore..

mat123: Maybe that's also the solution for you!
