MP hangs and I have to reboot - channel change (1 Viewer)

When I am watching TV full screen and type in a 3 digit channel # with my MCE remote, all hell breaks loose:
- MP becomes unresponsive (cannot exit using remote or keyboard)
- ctrl-alt-del task manager does not work (so cannot kill MP) - it is sort of visible in the background but lots of flashing so is not accessible
- I have to reboot to get control again
- strangely volume and mute works, but lots of flashing

I wish someone had a solution for you because I am having a very similar problem. I have all the symptoms you describe but with me it happens when watching a video (avi or mpg).

I don't start MP in full screen mode but change to it. Video plays fine except some time during play MP becomes unresponsive (but video is still playing OK). The only way to option to regain control is to reboot. The error creates an enormous error.log file - the last one was 479 MB.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on or should I reinstall MP? Please help!
