Synopsis: I have just upgraded to the latest 0.2.0 CVS release, and while the rest of the product seems to be quite solid now (with the return of the MS stream buffer), I have found the previously stable and solid suspend by PowerScheduler is now quite unstable.

I am finding that it causes MP to lock up when it tries to suspend after the inactivity timeout.

The last thing I see in the log is:

15/11/2005 11:05:55 PM PowerScheduler: Evaluate TVGuide recordings

15/11/2005 11:05:59 PM Recorder:confused:topviewing()

At this point MP has totally locked, it does not respond to any input, and cannot be killed with task manager, it requires a reboot to restore the system.

From what I can see it appears to be calling Recorder:confused:topviewing twice, once in response to the inactivity timeout, and a second time in response to the window power broadcast message. I wonder if that is a problem, and it should only be called once??

it seems that the problem is caused by the "disable tv card" check box, so I've unchecked that for the moment, and the problem has gone away.

I will see how I go with stability with this unchecked.

But it definitely appears there is a problem with the code around this option.

It seems that I am having some instability problems with the setting DisableTVCards = false. The system sometimes hangs if a suspend happens soon after an automated recording.

So I'm back to needing to have DisableTVCards set to true, but the recent CVS changes appear to cause a hang on suspend if this value is set.

Has anyone else found this behaviour with the Powerscheduler and disable TV cards. It appears to me from the log that the code is trying to shutdown the cards twice on suspend, which appears to be causing the hang. Is anyone else seeing this?

Similar problem experienced

I am having the same experience but am not sure if disabling tv card will make any difference. I shall test it and report back here what I find.

Nah, I tried disabling tv, when suspending, it didn't work.

Wondered whether it was to do with .net 2 just installed but it suspends fine in Mediacenter but not in mediaportal it's a cvs issue. We'll have to wait untill the dev team can work they're wonders.....

Carry on with the great work guys.

Are you seeing the repeat of the

15/11/2005 11:05:59 PM Recorder:confused:topviewing()

log line (with the second repetition being the last line in the log, and apparenty the point where the hang occurs) ?

I found that when I have "DisableTVCard" set to true, ie disabling TV, I have the problem, if I don't disable TV then I don't see the problem (although then I don't disable TV cards, then MP otherwise becomes unstable).

Those who are seeing this problem, perhaps it would be a good idea to post the end of your mediaportal logs to see if these are the same problems.

Got the same problem with RC2.
If the TV is turned on or off doesn't make any difference for me.

Worked like a charm with earlier versions.
