Do you use the background and/or idle dvb-epg grabber?
Or other plugins on the server?

Did a crash ever happen while you watched tv?

@all Do you have a weak signal on some channels?
That is know to cause a crash on tuning (including epg grabbing!)

    Here you go:
All these appear in the logs as ".NET runtime 2.0 error reporting"
It's happening all the time now...

No to having weak signals - took AGES to check them all with the signal strength thing..! (the Hauppauge one not the MP one)
Yes to using the background EPG grabber
    Never crashed when watching.
Plugins enabled is only the comskip, but I hardly ever record stuff

My bet is on the EPG grabber to cause the crases.
Do you have all your channels seletced to grab EPG for, or just those you really watch?
Would not be the first time that some odd data in the epg-stream causes a crash. But to find that out, it is required to find the channel which causes the crash. If it even is the epg grabber....

MP takes a while to respond but it comes back eventually with an error

I have tried completely uninstalling the TV card and reinstalling it - removing ALL TV and Radio channels, udate channel list then do a new DVB-S scan.
I am getting corrupt characters in the names of some of the channels (ie. BBæ1) could this be part of the problem??

Deleting and rescanning fixes some of these...

I use XMLTV for EPG, it never loses connection while watching tv. I'll post log files next time it happens, it's sporadic but always during non-use times.

Thats exactly the "corruption" I had in mind, which has a great chance of crashing the EPG grabber.

    After disabling the EPG,
removing all channels (Radio AND TV)
    update satellite list
    rescanning channels
removing the corrupt channel details and rescanning 4 or 5 times
I think it might be working :) It ran ALL night without the service dropping.
    Logs attached for completeness.

Now we know what the problem is - how do we fix it??
