MP plugin for Video Transcoding (1 Viewer)

please, put there some support for mpg, mpg2 (whatever user wants) files in MyRecordings (please, update new version just for this, it cant be so much work).......because the deinterlacing directly from dvr-ms files is not working so Im converting dvr-ms into mpg files with internal convertor and then Im converting into h264 with this convertor but I cant....it doesnt see mpg files so the database cant be updated (only via MyVideos I can convert mpg files but the database...)

and there is no possibility to stop transcoding

also replacing internal transcoder is not good (some choice should be there)

and whats even worse I removed my old version so now I cant transcode any file at all because I really dont want to have interlaced files on my pc

edit: so deinterlacing is working when Im transcoding from dvr-ms via mpg to h264 when interlacing support is not checked but quality of deinterlacing is very very poor so I still prefere internal transcoding into mpg file before transcoding into h264 but I cant do it anymore with replacing internal transcoder

Any plan to make it compatible with Divx Pro encoder with official Divx profile?

I have 2 quetions:

1) How to use comskip files (.txt, .log, ecc.) to convert dvr-ms recording to divx/xvid?? It is automatic??
2) I tray to covert 2% (for testing) of a dvr-ms recording to Xvid (by mencoder and by ffmpeg) but i'm not able to play the news files generate (.avi file). Why??

I'm experiencing a problem, possibly a bug...

Follow these steps to re-create the problem:

1) Record any TV-show...
2) Open the Video-Converter plug-in
3) Click on the Compress button..
4) You will now see the recording that you made..
5) Exit your plugin, and MediaPortal
6) Go to the directory that contains your recording..
7) Change the name of the recording-file..
8) Start MediaPortal and the Video-Converter plug-in
9) Click on the Compress Button..
10) Now you will see no recordings…..it disappeared.

This is the manual way of doing it, but if you use any other function in media-portal that changes the original name of your recording it causes the recording to disappear from the Video-Converter Plug-In.

If the name is changed, the database cannot find it, hence neither can this plugin.

Convert and then change name, add to the mytvseries or mesfilms plugin afterwards.

It's the only way i know of doing this, it also keeps the comskip file associated.

CPU usage of transcode plugin

Hi all

Thanks for the great work on the video transcode plugin. But i have some questions:

1) Why does FFMEG ore mencoder only using 50 CPU time in my Dualcore system? Changing the number of threads will bring no effect.

2) After starting TV or Videos several times the CPU usage from MP is increased from 10-15% to 50. This usage will stay after all videos and TV has stopped

3) After Transcoding MP will takes 100% of the CPU, but it has nothing to do? Can anybody confirm this behaviour?
in this case i got 3 instances of "mscorwks.dll!ClrCreateMangesInstance+0x8aa4" with a high number of CSwitch (i do not know what MP is doing there)

I'am using the inbuild TV engine and the newest build of MP and the Plugin

Make sure you're using a build of ffmpeg/mencoder that was compiled with dual core support.

is there a way to use this plugin to also cut commercials? Like if i have comskip run is there a way to have this program read the comskip files and cut the commercials before transcoding?

I just noticed a really messed up problem that im having with this program, when it encodes a recording (mencoder or ffmpeg) when it finishes and i try to watch it it plays at like mach 7 and the length of the video will be like 77 hours (30 min recording) any idea as to what would be causing this to happen?
