I just hope that the discussions in this thread lead to a better MP and FTR cooperation/integration. It would be a shame if some of the remarks I've read in this thread would lead to sour grapes between MP and FTR.

I'm a very happy FTR user, the combination of MP's TvServer + FTR + angusman's Australian GuideDigger gives me a TV recording system that runs flawless, without needing attention day after day.

With me being away from home for a minimum of 2 weeks a month the combination above gives me the comfi feeling I need that all's well at home on the recording front, even after 2 weeks of not looking after the system. The IM bot is fantastic, where ever my business travels take me I can always have a quick look via IM to see what FTR is doing. I've done so from all over the world.

To me the combination of MP with the added strength of FTR makes this the very best HTPC software in the world, let's keep it this way.

Remember FTR does not support RADIO, so if you listen\record that, you will no longer be able to do so, as it it not available.

So atm FTR is not the total replacement answer to MP's own plugin.

Have asked dvdfreak to make this more clearer to users in his release thread first post.

As I mentioned in the other thread, you won't really lose the radio channels, you just have to map them manually. What's disappointing right now is that they will show a blank screen while playing back (but you can just minimize full-screen playback of course) since they are treated as TV channels, but they do work. We have users that even schedule recordings on their radio channels (and use the custom recording file format feature to make sure these recordings end up in a different directory).

In any case, adding support for "real" radio channels is on the roadmap!

If so, then maybe a guide to show how to do this would be appreciated :)

Also do not remember seeing anything regarding this, so I apologise if this has already been done and I missed it.

It's really very easy :) An example:

On TV Vlaanderen there's a radio channel called "Studio Brussel". So all I did was go into the Management Console and add a TV Channel called exactly that "Studio Brussel". A quick verification in TV server's configuration console to check the channel is properly linked in the recorder/tuner plugin's setup panel, and that's it.

When I play back this radio channel I'll get a black screen as video, but otherwise everything works, including scheduling recordings.
