I will check again tonight and post my version of ffdshow.

    Sorry tourettes,

I did some testing tonight and found that Dscaler is used to connected before ffdshow check the screenshot of graphedit. What fooled me was the ffdshow icon in the taskbar. Can I ask when this was introduced?

Since testing, I have got to start the codec trialing again as I mucked around with DScaler options and now have lag in video to audio, blah blah blah.:sorry:

I can complete some testing in about 10 hours if you like (just started work for the day).

    Heres the patched TsReader.ax.

    1) make sure that ffdshow is used as video decoder in every case (its ok to run MP in windowed mode)
    2) zap between SD & HD mpeg2 channels.

do I need to regsrv this file (uninstall and then install new version)? I am assuming yes.

Wouldnt hurt to re-register, but as there is not interface changes the overwriting the old binary should work as well. (if you are 101% sure about the currently registered TsReader.ax's path :)).

    Results with new TSReader.ax

I can complete some testing in about 10 hours if you like (just started work for the day).

    2) zap between SD & HD mpeg2 channels.

Initial tests prove awesome. Zapping within 1-2 seconds. Attached are the logs. No problems here at all. below are the specs of my machine. NOTE TVServer is on another machine so streaming over 100Mb ethernet.

Also found that if I use set MPEG2 to use the "libavcodec" , I got a lot of dropped frames and stutter on video.
Using the "libmpeg2" option resolved the stuttering.

The only option I had turned on in ffdshow was deinterlacing and it was set to "ffmpeg deinterlacer" during these tests.

Confirmed with grapedit that ffdshow was the only codec used with VMR9 as output.

Note - I did not re-register the file, just copied over into MediaPortal Dir

I will continue testing and let you know if anything happens:D

Tried tourette's patched tsreader.ax and it doesn't atleast work for mpeg2 -> mpeg4 avc switches. After channel change you just get black picture. And following loglines:
    2008-07-29 17:27:31.296875 [Debug][MPMain]: TSReaderPlayer: waiting for vmr9 connection
2008-07-29 17:27:31.500000 [Debug][MPMain]: TSReaderPlayer: no vmr9 connection. Maybe we have a radio recording but expect video too so we suppose it's ok.

With same tsreader.ax the ATI MPEG Decoder works (from ATI AVIVO package).
