Hello
I am a new newbie.
I just installed Media Portal as described in the wiki.

The problem is that the TV tuner seems to be working, but the MP server shows black screen in preview-window and MP can not display the channels.

I've just updated the TV tuner drivers

    Hi and welcome Rasmus :)

The problem is codecs - without codecs MP cannot display any video or audio. I strongly recommend that you install the LAV Filter package from the MP Extension Installer (shortcut on your desktop). Installation is very quick and easy and there is no bloat like with other codec packs. After installation, open MP configuration and go to the "codecs and renderers" section. Set the value of all the settings on all the tabs to either "LAV video decoder" or "LAV audio decoder". Once you've done that, click OK to close MP configuration and then start MP and test. Hopefully everything will just work. Note that you can tweak the LAV codecs settings by using the configuration shortcuts in the LAV filters folder in your start menu.

Thank you - your advice was very useful and easy to follow.

MP can now display images, but it freezes a lot.
MP server still can not show the preview images.

    I've attached a new log

    Hi again

It looks like you have some problems with your audio renderer:

2012-01-02 12:05:50.111912 [ERROR][MPMain(1)]: DirectshowUtil. Failed to add filter:Default DirectSound Device to graph :Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040256 mscorlib at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.BindMoniker(IMoniker pmk, UInt32 grfOpt, Guid& iidResult, Object& ppvResult)
    at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.BindToMoniker(String monikerName)
at DShowNET.Helper.DirectShowUtil.AddAudioRendererToGraph(IGraphBuilder graphBuilder, String strFilterName, Boolean setAsReferenceClock)

It looks like there is currently no sound device in your system. Have you got some kind of sound card or do you intend to use the Intel HDMI audio that comes with the i3 video output? If you intend to use the Intel audio then you need to install drivers for it.

Regarding the preview function in TV Server: please try to deal with the audio issues in MP first. Preview is almost certainly not going to work without MP working properly. Having said that, getting preview to work can be tricky even when MP is working. The codec settings in MediaPortal configuration don't apply there - knowledge of Directshow codec merits is required. To be honest I recommend you test channels in MP.

    Hello Again

Ok - the preview function must wait

I have upgraded the sound card and it works fine.

I still have problems playing live TV in MP due to run in steps and because MP freezes right when I enter the TV menu

I hope you still want to help me solve the problem.
