I don't use debug options, I just discover that if I use ffdshow everywhere MP create a simple graph and connect subtitles and video on a single instance of ffdshow. The result is zero default. As soon you I complicate graph with use of a separate renderer for subtitles I have problems, sometime very little but problems. I test now a ICL build (ffdshow - Browse /SVN builds by clsid/generic builds at SourceForge.net) 3982 with LAV source filters, all software. I made profiles for TV HD/TV SD/Differents Videos and I like this way of work. So for me, the V92 is perfect but the addition of codecs in graph create the problems.

OK the test dshowhelper seemed worse (the red/green/yellow lines were a more wobbly! :) )

More wobbly is expected :) See the thread for more information. Please post a screenshot in the dshowhelper thread and tony or I can tell if it is to be expected or if it is some issue.

As per the other thread attached are 24fps, 25fps SD and 50fps HD screen captures - 'without' are with the MP 1.2 RC directshowhelper, and 'with' are with the v84

Not sure how to decide if its better or not :)

    Hi folks,

Firstly just to say this is not really on topic per se, so I'm sorry to jump in to this thread without any previous, but a quick note to Revs:

As Technick mentioned you should definitely enable "dynamic refresh rate" in MP config. This will set your display's refresh rate to suit the media being played. I can see from your screen shots that on the 23.976 fps material, your display is still set to 50Hz (Meas rfsh), therefore the picture will not be totally smooth and you'll see the big sawtooth red line and it will judder - this is most noticable on slow panning shots or scrolling text, for example. Turning on Dynamic Refresh rate should straighten that out nicely. Or at least, it certainly works for me.

Hope that helps. If it doesn't, then sincere apologies and I'll get me coat....

I am using the Dynamic Refresh Rate changer, have been for a long time. But thanks for suggesting it in-case I wasn't using it!

24fps * 2 = 48, so 50Hz is the closest the TV supports. (Well technically it supports 24hz, but there are 'issues' with the TV at 24hz).

The screenshots above are there for tourettes, as he wanted to check them out. As without this dshowhelper you can see I have pretty straight lines, and with dshowhelper they are 'sawtooth' - however that might actually be correct/better

I made tests since a long time and I have a remark, the most important thing is to have a perfect video or a perfect flat line ? With Dynamic Refresh Rate you can have both but without I think not ;-)

You should install mpaudiorenderer from tourettes, is see you have 23.97fps and 50hz display. mpaudiorenderer translates 23.97 into perfect 25/50 fps. You won't regret it :D

Might take a look at that - however I use SPDIF, and sure there were some issues around that (Dolby licensing etc)

    I use SPDIF too :D
Just enable AC3 encoding in the mpaudiorenderer registry settings and your good to go.
