    Hi there,

Been trying again with v69 - still issues for me (same as v67/v68).

I am running SAF5 (ffdshow audio, PDVD10 video, spdif out).

If I watch a HD channel (eg ITV HD), then it will work fine for a few minutes, then stutter bad with lots of dropped frames, then at times it will recover. Changing channel also solves the issue.

If I run the old dshowhelper (the one from MP Audio render) then I dont have any issues at all.

I have attached logs of watching the channel of when it was fine, then the problem starts - its all in the logs :)

I have also included a screen capture of when (about a second or two after) the issue starts.

    Thanks, :D

    J.

System specs please (for the PC that the screen caps/logs are from) ?

Does it happen with SD or just with HD material ?

Does it happen with other HD video material i.e not live TV ?

    Hi,

First of all - i am a beginner and do not know very much about dshowhelper dll.

I use MP only with my PC Monitor. This is connected via DVI @60Hz to my Nvidia 9800GTX GPU. 1.1.3 MP runs good and I have no Stuttering ore Artifacts. But I have little Audio Synch Issues ( Lips ) on Live TV.

With the original dshowhelper dll. the green and redline is flat - but the yellow one goes up and down with a lot of angels ( Spikes ? )

I give v55b a try - and since there audio synch Lips Issues are not present anymore:D But with this dll. the redline goes symmetric up and down like a PWM Signal.... The Green and Yellow Line are flat.

What happend ? Why is with original dll. the redline flat and the yellow one goes up and down - and with the v55b the redline goes up and down and the yellow one flat ?

    Please excuse my bad english...:sorry:

    Best Regards
    Harald

    Hi Tony,

    The specs are:

    Amd x3 705e
    6gb ram drive time shift
    2gb ram
    Ati hd5670
    Hauppuage s2 tuners
Intel x25e ssd for os and mepo

    Win x64
    ATI 11.2
Mepo 1.2 (no disk io patch)
    Latest saf5 (released today)

I'll try more testing when my other half isn't using it :D

    J.

    Hi there,

I switched back to the MP Audio Renderer dshowhelper file (So my other half could watch TV ok). Definately better with the old version than the newer version.

On SD content with live TV, I've watched 140000 frames - only 6 dropped (which might have been when I switched to the channel).

One thing I do get in the EVR log though is: MFVP_MESSAGE_INVALIDATEMEDIATYPE

Which matches with the following in the mediaportal log: PlaneScene: PresentImage() dispose surfaces

Not sure if its relevant or not???

Interesting links about it (but not sure if theres any useful info though):

    Hi there,

I have done some quick testing with v69 (only just got access to the TV for 15 minutes!)

I thought my problems were caused by the iPimp plugin, specifically the clientcontroller.

I have noticed at exactly the same time the dropped frames occurs I have the following in the MePo log:

    2011-03-04 22:59:42.062277 [Debug][(24)]: plugin: MPClientController - iPiMP ping on 10.105.105.255
    2011-03-04 22:59:42.062277 [Debug][(24)]: plugin: MPClientController - iPiMP ping data htpc,00-26-18-86-51-F8,55667,True,True

The weird thing is the dropped frames recover (albeit after a long period of time) or ifI change channel - even a very quick channel up and down (such that it doesn;t change the channel on the screen) resolves the issue.

I've seen the issue about 4 times now, and most the time they all coincide with the above entry about the MPClientController.

I can understand a plugin causing a blip to rendering - but surely Mepo/dshowhelper should be able to recover very quickly? Maybe thats the different between the old version of the dll, the old version is either less sensitive, or better at self recovery?

Maybe I spoke too soon... I have just got stuttering issues, but nothing was recorded about the MPClientController (but most the time they do coincide) :(

I will try and disable/uninstall the iPimp MPController.

    Thanks,

    J.

    Hi Jay,

Have you tried v0055 (the version currently here in the MP SVN trunk) ?

Looking at your logs, when it's logging dropped frames usually the 'paint' (rendering) times are excessive e.g. 36ms, which is usually caused by performance problems, but your system is more powerful than either my HTPC (c2d E4300 + GT430) or my dev laptop (i5-540m + Intel HD graphics), so it's a bit strange....

    Hi there,

I will spend some time looking at v55 from the trunk (is this in base 1.2.0 SVN or a newer version?).

I disabled the iPimp controller, and it has "helped", but I can still be watching ITV HD with everything smooth and no dropped frames. Then all of a sudden dropped frames and the evr.log file goes mad. No other log files are generated/updated - just the evr.log (see attached log)

Other channels seem ok - I can watch SD channels or BBC HD/BBC One HD with no issues (the odd dropped frame here and there)- but I will need to test more to prove it. ITV 1HD is the only HD channel I have at full 1920 resolution.

I have found v69 to be quite sensitive - everso often I get a dropped frame when TVSeries does a scan/update - hopefully its not a machine performance/spec issue!

    :D

    J.,

Your log is truncated (the early part is missing) for some reason - is it always like this ?

v0055 is from the current MP SVN trunk (not the branches) - I linked to it in the previous post.

please check if the refreshrate is set correctly in videocardsettings to 25Hz or 50Hz, etc.
i got the same prob, cause my display only accepts 60Hz and thats not equal to tv or video.
also activate the refresh rate changer in MP
