You don't seem to understand...

It's no surprise that you would get "no signal" sometimes if you don't "update satellite list". "Update satellite list" downloads the latest list of satellite and transponder details. If you do not "update satellite list", you will be using the standard/default lists. According to the code history, the last time the default lists were updated was 6 January 2013 (!!!). Therefore it's possible that many of the transponder details would have changed.

So please take my advice: it's very important to "update satellite list" before scanning... and it should help. If it does not help, I suggest you provide new log files showing your scan and details of some of the channels that you're missing. Otherwise there's not much I can do to help you.

O.k., thank you for the explanation. I will do it and update the list. But some weeks ago the updated list yielded no better results than the standard list. Still some transponders with 'no signal'. Did not know that MP updates have older transponder lists. I will provide logs if it fails.

This evening I made an update of the transponder lists followed by a scan. Instead of 976 TV channels there are 1115 now but not 1520. Six channels I had entered manually yesterday as they did not show up. Most of the time I had a full bar at both signal level and signal quality. I had several occurences of 'No signal'. Most of them at 18.something MHz.

In the attachment there are the logs after the scan and some sorting of the channels.

Instead of 976 TV channels there are 1115 now but not 1520.

IMHO 1115 is pretty good.
KingOfSat gives the following channel counts:
http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-19.2E.php

• total = 1428
• free-to-air (not encrypted) = 719
• TV = 1128
• radio = 175
• data = 125

As you can see, 1115 is only missing 13 channels.

My guess is that your 1520 number includes obsolete/duplicate entries which should not be counted.

I cannot investigate missing channels if you don't tell me which one are missing.

"No signal" does not automatically mean error or problem.

18*** MHz transponders are Ka band. You can't receive them with your Ku band LNB, so it is expected that you would get no signal. Note that Ka channels are not included in the KingOfSat numbers quoted above.

I cannot see any obvious pattern (eg. all DVB-S2), so I can't explain why they weren't locked. However in one other case I saw that locking on signal required almost 2 seconds:

So, perhaps it would help if you increase that setting a little.


...but in general I think that results of 1115 out of 1128 channels and 106 out of 111 transponders is pretty good...

...and I think it's important to point out that none of these points/issues had anything to do with newer versions of MP as you originally claimed.

The channels are...

All of those channels were found in the scan. So, this is an example of why it is so important to use the "update satellite list" function. No need to add channels manually when the scanning transponder list is correct.

Hi mm,

just a heads up: I faced the same problem again after updating HTPC 2 to MP 1.16 Pre. I had done an 'Update satellite list' and had then made a new channel scan. Suddenly the problem with the channel on position '8' - RTL 2 - was there again. Live TV would freeze after I wanted to change to RTL 2 directly by pressing '8' on my remote. I remembered this thread, found your proposed solution, found a new radio channel named RTL 2 in the radio channel list and deleted this channel. Problem solved.

The only thing I wonder is why in TV mode the radio channel is interfering?
