What do you mean he doesn't see?......
Think it might have been better to say.....I can see the drives containing videos....but opening them doesn't find the videos that are inside.

Now back in 1.30....and have access once more! :)

Maybe this is a silly question, but what is your folder settings in MP? I mean, the 'View by' option? Is it set to 'Shares?'
Configuration log shows attempts to load nfo files, so it looks like MP(Config at least) has access to the folder.

Yup....I've always set it to shares :)

First of all, Happy New Year to all reading this :)

I'm digging up this thread, because this problem seems to be still relevant. I am experiencing the same issues described here (in MediaPortal v1.36 x64). In all my local folders no contents whatsoever are displayed (as if they were empty, which they are not). Network shares (which I use the most) are fine.

    What I noticed:
    • When adding a new local video folder in the GUI-Settings (not in the separate configuration-application) I can browse my local filesystem, but all folders are displayed in uppercase (e.g. folder 'Comedy' displayed as 'COMEDY').
    • The logs show:
    Code:
[2025-01-01 18:56:04,081] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - UNCTools: CheckNetworkHost: Connection D:\Comedy:139 Error: Diese Protokollversion wird nicht unterstützt.
[2025-01-01 18:56:04,081] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - UNCTools: UNCFileFolderOnline: Host: '' is not reachable!
    [2025-01-01 18:56:04,082] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - : Method: Samba/Samba
    [2025-01-01 18:56:04,082] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - : File/Folder: D:\Comedy

(first item translated means something like 'unsupported protocol version')

Not sure if it is intended beahaviour that MediaPortal uses Samba even for local folders, but maybe the host just gets not populated here with 'localhost' or something similar?

The "Host Detected Method" combobox (in Edit Folder form) should be set to "Default" for local folder. It seems you have set the method to "Samba". Can you switch it to "Default"?

It is set to "Default" ... well sort of. It is greyed out and I can't select anything different:
    MP_video_folder.JPG

I don't think I ever changed that on any folder. I also get the same behaviour when adding a local folder from within the GUI. And I can't set the Host Detect Method there (at least I could not find it). It used to work with the same settings in x32 MediaPortal.

Please, can you post entire Configuration log in debug mode?

PS: can you verify "hostdetectmethod" element of you share folder in MediaPortal.xml file?

Found it. There is a bug in GUISettings plugin. These 3 props are not being loaded/saved causing a mess in MediaPortal.xml settings file:
    - sharewakeonlan
    - hostdetectmethod
    - sharedonotfolderjpgifpin

Do not use the plugin to add/remove share folder until fix arives. Use Configuration application instead.

Preliminary updated GUISettings plugin for testing (MP 1.36).
Do not forget to update strings_en.xml language file.
Plugin is compatible for both x86 and x64 MP version.

Thank you for the updated file.
However it does not seem to change the outcome. The folders still show no contents, the log-entries look identical. I see a new global HostDetectMethod-setting (in the separate Configuration app) which was set to "Samba" as I opened it and only "Ping" and "NetUse" as other options (no "Default"-option). In MediaPortal.xml, the hostdetectmethod for the local shares is set to "Default".

I've attached my MediaPortal.xml as well as the MP and Configuration logs (DEBUG level). The MediaPortal.log shows the start of MP after a reboot and directly navigating to the video folders section, followed by program exit. I noticed an exception I have not noticed before, saying that 'SQLite.Interop.dll' was broken (line 1134 in MediaPortal.log), but all other database-related activities seem to work fine.
