I've struggling with the setup of the development environment

You are not the only one. Proper MP1 build is a pain to setup. I was just trying to see if I could upgrade those packages quick but it won't perform the build. I'm probably missing something silly...
@Sebastiii is probably the one you want to ask to the rescue.

You don't need to use nuget packages to create, test and use/provide plugins.
But for the moment, you have to use VS2015, not VS2017.
And also, take a look at the wiki to configure your environment.
And yes, MP should be compiled with VS2019 community.
It"s MP devs decision to make it possible (and it could not be as easy as it can be...)...

I just see (with your "like(s)" than finally you read my post(s)). ;)
THX for that and "NO", I don't want a THX for this, I don't care..
You have BIG problem with MediaInfo changes and, if I can help (Sebastiii said "2 fingers in the nose") (French expression), I will do, if necessary (it would be a @Regeszter tribute, if I can)...

    So,
i make an virtualbox of W10 with only VS2019.
For now what i can build :
MP1 Client And TVserver, the only think i checked during VS setup : Dekstop Development with C++ and enable extra stuff
    VS2019.png

    install DirectX SDK (June2010).
and MP client can build without extra code change.

For Directshow filter, it's a little more complicated
i would like to update vsyams with github version who support VS2019 outofbox.
i can build localy the binary with my full system, but missing python on the VM.

Well, if Team want to go this way, I suppose testing all MP functions to determine no regression will be the biggest work to do...
