MP101 Video Playback error - "Unable To Play" (1 Viewer)

im running on windows xp sp3

i solved the problem by installing the lastest directx (march 2009), installing manually the vc++redist (2008 i think, for exact version look at the installer) befor the setup of media portal, downloaded the last windows updates and finally downgraded my catalyst to version 9.3 (newer versions seems to mess the system up)
i cant remember all the steps /things i tried so no guarantee for this information .... good luck!

btw: my Mp is running VMR9 not EVR

Sorry for the double post, but I didn't know where to post...

I am having the same problem with external player (mpc-hc) in MP 1.0.2 with latest Moving pictures plugin. The video file is played correctly and when i close mpc-hc and return to MP, I see the window error.
Mind you, that if I play the video in mpc-hc directly (not in the MP environment), I do not get any error messages.
Tried re-installing directx but nothing changed.
My system is winXP pro sp3, coreavc, haali, ac3filter, vmr9.
Any thoughts for a solution?

ps. It seems like the internal player of MP is trying to play the video although in the config I have set to use an external player (mpc-hc)???

I have this problem every day, and it's No WAF
If i use tv, no problem, series, no problem, but if i let mediaportal open and go to sleep, when i return in the morning to play tv , i have the codec problem...

Hi all,

Had some problems with playback as some mentionned before. I reinstalled dscaler and now playback works fine.


...but recording doesnt seem to work (can't find them in the list). Anybody some ideas of possible try-outs?

For what it's worth, this problem suddenly appeared for me (I guess I must have installed something else on the system that led to the issue), but I managed to fix it by re-installing the 2008 VC++ redistributable from: Download details: Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)

Thanks but that did not work. I did a full uninstall of ver 1.0.2 Mediaportal reinstalled 1.0.2 and installed the 2008 VC++ redistributable from the site you gave. I'm trying to find 1.0.0 to try that.

Seems like this problem affects all people with version 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 who have a Radeon Mobility 9000 card. Can anyone confirm that they can get this combination to work with VMR9?

Downgrading to 1.0 made this issue disappear for me.
