    Hi,

After some initial issues with series I imported my series one more time (after I had deleted the respective media source). The importer fails to download series posters and season banners for
    • Der Tatortreiniger
    • The Brink - Die Welt am Abgrund
Pictures are in principle available as they are displayed by MyTvSeries in MP1. Any ideas how to track this down?

    Hi.
Which online data sources did you allow during import? I can imagine TVDB only...
We already have weekend where TVDB is pretty much overloaded all the time. For this it did not answer at all or if there is one, the answer is pretty slow. To limit those effects it could be useful to also enable TMDB and fanart.tv for downloading fanart.. I encounter this issue with MKV-Buddy all of the time. That's why in meantime TVDB only is used as a fallback in MKV-Buddy, if TMDB did not deliver proper metadata and fanart.
Aside this "The Brink - Die Welt am Abgrund" is not the "official" name of this series, it only is an alias. The Official German name is "The Brink". I don't know exactly if aliases are treated exactly as the "real" names but I would avoid those aliases as often as possible.

"Der Tatortreiniger" also is a bit problematic as there is another series named "Tatortreiniger - Der blutigste Job der Welt" available on TVDB. Both series are a matching result if you are searching for "Der Tatortreiniger". And if there is more than one match, MP 2.1 did not know which one is preferred by the user...

How to track this down? Really difficult, I fear.A 100% perfect match simply is not possible if you only relay on File and Folder names.

A pretty simple and fast solution is to download and copy the matching fanart into the series folder. Then it will be read from there... It's a solution but not what you want to achieve I believe...

    All of them were enabled.

Ah, ok. I simply kept the name of what was originally recorded by TVServer. I can change the name and try again.

Aha, I didn't know that! Could we imagine to apply search logic like we do for movies with the tt number? In other words add the tvdb series id to the file name and hve the importer prefer the number if there is one? I could make this a feature request if you see value here.

Well, no - but it's a work-around and you wouldn't do this constantly.

Thank you for your explanations, really helpful!

By the way: this would be something to add to the Wiki.

Pretty sure this can be useful but I'm not the person to ask. I only use local fanart and metadata what is working 100% perfect without a single failure... I can name my series folder any way I like and I always get exactly the fanart I want. One of the main reasons I wrote MKV-Buddy. And MP 2.1 is the perfect partner for this. 2.0 was always using online scrapping, no matter if local data or fanart was available, but in 2.1 I can disable the online lookup completely, giving me exactly the media library I always wanted but never could get with any other HTPC software before...

But I would prefer the series folder name to contain the TVDB- ID as there is an own TVDB-ID for every episode that is not related to the series ID... And for episodes I prefer season and episodes number to identify them. Better human readable than a long and "random" number...

this would be something to add to the Wiki.
Yes, but I think we should first collect all possible naming before. Even I don't know all naming that is working. And if such a search logic will be implemented this has to be the first to explain in the Wiki, I believe...

    @Lehmden , I thought about this again.

It should actually be possible to retrieve the correct series ID even in ambiguous cases like the two that I mentioned above. While no poster and banner pictures are downloaded in these cases, the respective individual episodes are correctly recognized, assigned to the right series and season and episode pictures are displayed for each episode:

    Tatortreiniger.JPG

@Brownard , given the fact that the episodes are known, could you imagine to modify the importer process in such way that whenever series/season pictures cannot be retrieved because of ambiguous hits, a second poster/banner download run is triggered based on the episode information found?

In theory I think this is how it should already work, series/season info is determined from the episode, so if the episode is correct I imagine there's an issue in there somewhere.

Ok, then we can use this particular series as the test case.

Anything more that I could do to provide info?

Lastly: So it is a bug?
