    Hi.
When You choose "Sort by Sorttitle" in Movies the order is not as expected, it is simply ignored and did not work. Similar to "Sort by AlbumArtist" in music the most important sorting option is not working.

Cannot confirm this: it does work here for Movies.

Hang on - it's Theme-specific! It works for BV default but not for Windows 10.
@ge2301 , can you verify the implementation of Win10 please?

By the way: we should rename the theme "WIndows 10" into something else. It can be confusing when discussing system specifics and skins within the same thread :)

Wait again! Sorting is suddenly OK for Windows10 too.

All of a sudden it works and I have no clue why it didn't when I switched from Default to Win10. So I switched betweenm different themes back and forth and can't reproduce the problem.

This I can not believe as the sorting is Independent of the skin..
And it definitely is NOT working in BV:

The "American Pie" movies are sorted 1, 4, 3, 2 also they must be sorted 1, 2, 3, 4 if the sorttitle would be working.

Hhm, where is the attribute "sort title" coming from? Have you set this yourself or is it an information that is retrieved online?

I confirm that the desired sorting order is not there for me neither, e.g. 8x Harry Potter are not listed in their chronological sequence but alphabetically. Again correct sorting would require the "sort title" content to be available.

Normally the sorttitle is something a user set manual. As this is not (yet) possible in MP 2 this wasn't available in 2.0 As with 2.1 pre this sorting is implemented and can be filled from .nfo files There is a sotrttitle tag in every .nfo file I'm aware of. As you may expect I'm using .nfo files from MKV-Buddy. Here the sorttitle tag is a combination of the movieset name a movie belongs to and the year and month (if two movies of one movieset are released the same year) of the release. Most other .nfo file generators are filling this tag with the movie name for later manual editing. This is done by MKV-Buddy also, if the movie did not belong to a movieset at all.
Here are the four sorttitle tags from the four "American Pie" movies:
    XML:
      <sorttitle>American Pie Filmreihe1999-07</sorttitle>

      <sorttitle>American Pie Filmreihe2001-10</sorttitle>

      <sorttitle>American Pie Filmreihe2003-08</sorttitle>

      <sorttitle>American Pie Filmreihe2012-04</sorttitle>
What order do you expect from those data? I'm pretty sure not what is shown on the screenshot...

    Easy.;)

Can you verify the contents of the database? Is the sort title correctly filled? The issue could also lie within the importer.

    Hi,

    here is the same problem:

    20170103-192055.jpg

    It is sorted by sortitle.

This is the respective entry in the .nfo for 'Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen' as retrieved by MKV-Buddy:

    Code:
<title>Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen</title>
      <originaltitle>Harry Potter and the Philosopher&#39;s Stone</originaltitle>
      <sorttitle>Harry Potter Filmreihe2001-11</sorttitle>
      <set>Harry Potter Filmreihe</set>
      <year>2001</year>
      <premiered>2001-11-16</premiered>
      <aired>2001-11-16</aired>

    Cheers
