Hi guys,

I have tried many hours to sort this out and also searched for answers but have not been successful.

I am looking to get away from Android and/or Linux set ups, so I thought I would try MP2 again. It looks promising but getting videos to play is killing me!

Basically, I have a backend machine (W10 latest updates) running the server and client. The client on this machine plays videos and live TV without any issues. When I use the remote client (also on W10) I can play live TV without problems, but no videos will play. I have tried varios sharing options and permissions but it doesn't seem to be that. I have disabled firewalls and still no good. Anyway, I have attached logs.

The following extract highlights the problem area.

Any help appreciated. thank you.

Code:

Please take a look here, this might solve your problem:
not possible to play media files

Thanks for that suggestion. I had seen that somewhere else and since I was not running those versions, I did not pursue further.

I have since checked, and I still have my media features installed. Regardless, I downloaded, installed the feature pack and rebooted.

The issue remains exactly as described and I remain unable to play media files.

I have installed just the client on another machine and that appears to work ok. I noticed that the installer spent some time installing DirectX versions on this machine and I cannot remember this happening on the one that does not work. I tried installing directx 9 on the other machine but the windows installer wont let me, saying that a new compatible version is already installed.

Investigating further, but if anyone has a download link for the required DirectX 9 files then that would be useful.

I am no longer thinking that it is a D9X issue as I seem to have the required files:

I am no longer thinking that it is a D9X issue as I seem to have the required files:
Indeed. You wouldn't even be able to install MP2 without DX9 either being present or getting installed by the MP2 setup.

Please set log level to DEBUG (see Adjust Log Levels), reproduce the issue and post new logs.

Regarding installation of DX9 please refer to here. But as mentioned in previous post, debug logs would be helpful.

Thanks. I have attached debug level logs from the client.

I did a fresh reinstall as I tried MP1.8x which also did not work. The client complained about being unable to create a D3Dx object and refused to run.

Is this only happening with mp4 videos? What is the beahvior if you convert this mp4 to mkv?
