Hi guys,

(fisrt of all sorry for my bad english)

If I understand correctly, MPII will let us to mount a server at home with all multimedia files, satellite and TV cards installed into it. This server may be hibernating all the time waiting for a customer machine to awake it ...
without energy consumption ...

It's that correct?

Because it is EXACTLY what I'm waiting for ...

:D

Yes, I think you will be able to achieve that by correctly configuring your machine.

Was just wondering if any decisions have been made with regard to the interface. Going with GDI/GDI+/DirectX again? Maybe make use of the relatively newly announced Direct2D which seems like it was born from the needs of the snappy Media Center 7 interface?

Also, just to throw that out there but integration of the new Windows 7 libraries would be excellent but I don't really know how possible or reasonable that is. I'm finding myself having to manage two databases now with Windows 7 out; the Windows 7 libraries and then the Media Portal databases.

I'm all for pure Windows 7 aswell, even though I do understand that some people don't want to upgrade all their HTPCs to Win7 due to costs. But my guess is that going for 7 only will be the most futureproof solution aswell.

I might be thinkign too far ahead now, but let's say that we'll see MP 2 "final" in what? 2nd half of 2011? At that point it'll probably only be 1 more year untill we get "Windows 8", and then you'll have to work with support for Vista, 7 and 8.

    I agree, +1 for Windows 7 only.

I had huge problems getting Vista to sleep and wake up again. To be honest, I never got it to work. The only way I could "quickly" shutdown and boot my Vista HTPC was with hibernation. Windows 7 however has zero issues with sleep and waking up. It boots faster, is smaller in size (hdd space) and looks better :D. I really don't see the point in supporting Vista.

Really looking forward to MPII and the way it is going to progress. Is MPII going to be using a modular design?

Thanks for all the work you guys have done on MP1, me and my dad really love it and we can't wait to start playing around with the new toy (MPII).

Not quite true - I had issues with random lock ups until I disabled the processor throttling (in the power schemes control panel applet)

Oke, well I was speaking out of own experience here, sorry.
I've heard that CPU throtteling causes problems with sleep mode often, why is that?
