To be honest. I am positively surprised about the positive "W7 only" feedback we recive here.
I was expecting a lot of bashing and moaning.

Sometimes it is nice to be wrong. :)

    :D

Yes, in general I think people are looking forward to W7. Note that I'm not bagging XP - it has been around for some time and is arguably one of Microsoft's most successful OSs. It has been around since 2001 (18 months ago for SP3), and has been in 'extended phase' support since April this year. If the timelines of zicoz are close for MPII 'final' (late 2011/early 2012), then the support for XP will be nearing the proposed termination date of April 2014.

W7 is using similar software technology to Vista, only refined and more stable. W8 will likely be using similar technology as W7. So why not marry MPII with an OS technology that will be around for several years? Makes complete sense to me. :)

+1 for skipping VISTA and going direct for 7 support here too. I have been running Vista x64 for a long time and NEVER got it running that stable with MP. Biggest issue is sleep and USB etc for me. When i briefly tried windows 7 all those issues were gone, and thats before the final release of 7.
I think Vista became over bloated trying to give the eyecandy and features that the code just wasnt ready for. Win 7 however will be a different story.
    Roll on 2011 lol

    Thanks team MP

    +1 on win7

    P.S.
If you are a stundent: A lot of universities and schools offer an MSDNAA account. I just got 2 Win7 Pro Licenses (1x32 and 1x64 bit [I thought there would be only 1 license valid for both so I will try installing two 64bit Versions] over my MSDNAA acoount.

I could use the win 7 1x32 MSDNAA license for the 1x64 version. It seems like the license only is valid for one computer.

I got 2 different keys along with 2 different iso. But havent tested yet. I would like to install 2x64bit. (Lack of Hardware/Money:()

P.s. I would love to see a "native" Webinterface (Where each page reflects the corresponding page in mpII, this way it would be plugin independent i.e. if I have moving picturesII installed there will be a moving picturesII button on the webinterface main page etc.)
But I guess it´s a little early for feature requests

I got 16 MSDN AA Win7 Pro licenses :D and i can confirm that you can use x86 and x64 licenses for whatever version you want, whatever language you want, as long as it's the same edition, in my example the Professional version. Also, since i have so many versions, i'm willing to offer some of them to MP2 devs as a donation, so it may help them make Win7 compatibility better ;)

Don't hesitate to ask, Albert :)

I support your decision about only Windows 7 support.

But please oh please, don't forget to use Invariant versions of .ToString() methods, which is a must for users with several regional settings (in my case Turkish). I had informed & also provided some of the solution for MP1 (skin engine). I still haven't tried TV Server if it would work or not, but in v0.2.0 it wasn't...

And also you might check Normalize string to uppercase MSDN article to make it all go away...

Or maybe a configuration setting to specify the CultureInfo & CultureUIInfo to be used with MediaPortal processes...
    Such as:
    Code:
    Application.ChangeCulture("en-US")
    Application.ChangeUICulture("en-US")
But I would prefer the proper handling of Turkish regional settings in MPII in all modules...

Hi! Does your student license include the ultimate version (multilanguage would be good for the dev machine).
Iirc those contracts are bound to one named user - so be careful ;)

    I know, so don't tell Bill :p

Nope, just professional, but it's a easy procedure to apply language packs even for the pro version. besides, i'v got French, English, German, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese simplified RTM.iso's in x86 and x64 ;)

Can you tell me, which kind of problems you got with MP1 with normal, localized versions of .ToString()?
