Hey...thanks for sharing your experience.
I thought I read somewhere MP2 was the one to use with windows 10 so went with that one. Install seemed to go ok, but no TV. My movie collection shows up and I like how it adds movie data, but none of them play either. I must be missing something but am new to this so don't know what I am looking for.
I did manage to get some of my channels to load programing guide. Strange that Canada isn't an option in the country drop down list. I just used closest US zip code.
Anyway...this looks like the best option for moving off WMC. It is not just that Win10 won't be supporting it...I could stay with Win8, but they are messing with the EPG and I have lost access to programing data for 1/2 my stations.

In the SetupTV app I see my channels, can preview them, but in the GUI I can't watch any of the channels.
The client side playback issues are related to missing dependencies. Please check if all the required components are installed which are listed here: http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/2_..._Installing_MediaPortal_2#System_Requirements.

The good news is, that we currently create a new installer which automatically downloads and installs missing packages. It will be available this week.

If this doesn't fix the playback issue, please post the logfiles. Use the linked tool from this post: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/how-to-post-a-bug-report-for-mediaportal-2.106173/

Thanks for the links...I will look more closely to see if something is not installed properly. And post back if I find the problem in case that helps others with the same issue.
When I first installed I tried to get everything updated, but I am suspicious DX9 or Net 4.5.1 aren't right. I have updated to the latest Net 4.5 through windows update. I have no more updates, but it only says Net 4.5, not Net 4.5.1. Is that right, or do I need to force an install of another version somehow?

Keep up the good work and thanks for being so supportive.

I think the problem is Directx. The DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer says I already have up to date installation. I do have dx11, but is there a way to force the install of dx9?

If you are already able to see anything from the MP2-Client user interface, then DX is working :)

    That is awesome!
Worked like a charm. Right overtop the failed install...even remembered the settings I had put in from before. Only difference this time it worked.
    Many thanks.
First impression, I like this better that WMC RIP.

OK, new post: I'm a newbie trying to replace WMC so I can go Win10, and decided to give MP2 a go.
I'm on the West Coast of the USA, Comcast cable, using a HD HomeRun Prime with a Motorola M-card cable card. This all works fine with WMC but I'm dead-ended trying to get the MP2 SetupTV scan to see channels.
It sees my server and 3 ATSC tuners, tuning mode is Digital cable, QAM HRC+3 is locked in, CAM is enabled, SDT/VCT timeout is set as directed. Windows Firewall exceptions are set for the MP .exe's, and I even tried disabling the firewall altogether. All I get is "out-of band service information..." then "signal locked, no channels found,,, Scan done!" after about 4 seconds.
So I've been wracking my brain on this one, scouring the forums and finally decided to post. Any ideas?
Would trying MP1 be advised? My understanding is that it uses the same TV engine...
    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hello and welcome! :)

    Good idea. (y)
Don't struggle alone. It's no fun.

    Any ideas?
    Unfortunately not without log files.
Could you please collect and attach log files so we can take a closer look.
I'm not sure if the MediaPortal 2 Log Collector is included with the latest installer. If it's not, you can always get it here:
    https://www.team-mediaportal.com/extensions/mp2-plugins/mediaportal-2-log-collector

Use that to collect a zip file that you can attach ("upload a file") here.

    Would trying MP1 be advised?
MP2 is okay as long as you're making an informed choice. In other words: you should be aware that MP2 is a work in progress, and there will be issues, missing features etc. If you're not comfortable with that, you'd possibly be better with MP1 (which most people are using).
