    Installed MePo2 on test system. Same system ran MePo1 without significant CPU performance problems. With LAV/DXVA2 MePo1 runs with less than 20-25% or so CPU load. Tried same setup for MePo2, LAV does NOT enable DXVA hardware acceleration, much higher CPU 60+%, sometimes peaks hit close to 100%. Not sure what is blocking DXVA.

    Laptop: CPU = IvyBridge, i3-3237U 1.90 GHz, 2 core 4 thread, 4GB Ram, 500GB HDD, Win8.1
    Intel HD4000 GFx
    LaptopDisplay = Windows, Task Manager, for debug etc
    HDMI = Extended, MePo1/MePo2 fullscreen 1920x1080 video/audio

    MePo1 = MediaPortal_Setup_1.9.0_PreRelease
    MePo2 = MP2-Setup-10th_AE_Update_1 + SlimTV-NativeTV-10th_AE_Update1_refresh
    LAV = 0.62.0

    both MePo1/2 use test file on local HDD, TheBigBangTheory.TS file copied from MePo1 system

    System idle, no MePo1 or MePo2, CPU activity = 3%

    start MePo2, goto Videos and folder with test file, Idle CPU = 8%
    start video, LAV shows DXVA2 available but NOT active, avcodec = active
    CPU = 55-65%, GPUz shows GPU = 90%

    start MePo1, goto Videos and folder with test file, Idle CPU = 10%
    start video, LAV shows DXVA2 = active
    CPU = 18%, GPUz shows GPU = 60%

    Attached pngs show LAV and TaskManager for both tests, zip has client side log files from both tests. Just getting started with MePo2 so not sure what logs or debug info is needed. Suggestions for next steps?

    I can verify this.... Never realized the LAV Video had an Available and Active within.
    I have upgraded to the new 6.3 LAV and have the same issues....

    What happens if you switch all codecs back to the Microsoft decoder? Does it lead to same cpu usage?

    The screenshots are confusing me: did you create them on the same computer using same display config?

    They look similar, but if you check the look of controls (especially radio buttons) they are different.

    yep same system, not sure why LAV displays are a bit different. Just started MePo2, play test video, grab screen snapshots. Close MePo2, start MePo1 and repeat. No reboot. If I run PIP, CPU pegs at 90+% activity.

    I'll try MSFT codecs after I finish my morning coffee. Need to hit minimum caffeine levels before doing any SW/HW changes. Next time I'll capture TaskManager/LAV in same picture. Not sure how to tell if DXVA is running when I'm using Msft.

    one more comment, I had noticed the LAV Status windows looked a bit different between MePo 1 vs 2. I repeated the runs 2-3 times always the same. Is this a hint, the MePo2/LAV sort of looks like XP, the MePo1/LAV looks like newer windows.Are MePo1/2 using the same steps to start videos/codecs?

    When I installed MePo2, just ran installer on Win8.1 system, client/server single seat, then copied Native/SlimTV files. Same for MePo1, did full MePo1 "option 3" total remove of MePo1.7 (or 1.8?) then reboot, 1 click install.

    Win8 task manager shows more/different stuff than win7 or earlier versions. I run MePo1/2 on HDMI port extended display to TV, keep laptop open and use display for "debug console".

    All normal people watch TV and keep TaskManager, ResourceMonitor, HDHRconfig windows running so they can monitor system performance while watching JerrySpringer to see what trouble thier 2nd cousin got into last month.
