Yes, you should have Windows for use MediaPortal, lot of feature need Windows ( .net / DirectX / ... )

French section, have less new message / thread. 5/10 in the month . but we can have mp2 section in french subforum.
I hope in future have more & more new french user. But xbmc has big french community.

This happened immediately after my Windows 11 x64 monthly update for November. The update included also cumulative update to .NET...
Some MP2 installers contain three TV Servers:
TVE3
TVE3.5
TvMosaic
If the installer that you used offers you the choice of these three TV Servers, select TVE3. If you selected TVE3.5, run the installer again and select TVE3.
The Kodi plugin is described as being intended for MP 2.5 and TVE3, so it should work. Unfortunately I do...
