MPExtended only for Windows clients ? (1 Viewer)

Hello.

For now I have not installed MPExtended but I have read the installation guide. Is it correct, that you must have a Windows client to acces the webinterface?
I would like to use Mediaportal as tv server, but with the possibility to manage the recordings (and timer) from my laptop (ubuntu) via webinterface. Is there another webinterface without all those "windows dependencies"?

I've used the web interface from an iPad and Android devices with no issues. There's no reason why it won't work on Ubuntu

But the installation guide says:
..."WebMediaPortal gets its data from the MPExtended services, so you have to install it too. If you are using a multiseat setup, you have to install these on a different computer. See the installation guide of the services for more details."

For me it sounds like I have to install it on every client (which then has to be windows based).

In that case the documentation is confusing. You need to install MPExtended on each machine which provides services, specifically the media access service (music, series, movies and playlists) and the TV access service (live TV, recordings and scheduling). For example I have WebMediaPortal installed on IIS on the webserver but MediaPortal is on the HTPC so to set it up I go to http://webserver/WebMediaPortal and in settings put http://htpc:4322 as the service

I have used the webinterface from a friends house on a Mac, no idea what browser it as but I think maybe firefox - and that worked with no problems at all.

The os you use to access webmediaportal doesn't matter. You need a windows system where mpextended is installed (your tv server in this case).
