Try shutting MP down prior to standby and have it set to not start on resume, ie eliminate MP out of the equation and just test TVServers hibernation\standby ability :)

    Hi,

Doesn't MP have to be on the home screen to record though? I think I saw an option under settings having said that, that you can de-select.

Can you leave it like this permanently i.e. be outside of MP e.g. surfing the net and MP will still record through TVS?

Oh, I managed to set 3 recordings today (2 in HD and 1 in analog) and it recorded 2 out of 3 after extending re-initialise tuner delay to 120 seconds and also changed the resume settings to Media Portal Stop, TVS Stop, TVS Start, MP Start i.e. I added the MP stop on resume first. Not sure why 3rd recording did not work though?

If you could answer my question above, that would be great and I will give it a whirl.

Have 3 more recordings tonight to test with same settings as during the day.

    Cheers

    Graham

The tvserver handles all recording etc events, the MP frontend is not required to actually be running. The MP frontend can safely be closed and Tvserver will continue to record and start new recordings.

You may be confusing this with the Powerscheduler which has a box to tick requiring MP to be in the home screen for shutdown.

    Hi Paranoid Delusion,

I recorded 2 out of the 3 shows OK by leaving my machine on the desktop and eliminating the Start / Stop of MP. Thanks for the additional note 5 hundred. I happened to select 2 test recordings with exactly the same name at different times, so I'm not sure if that stuffed it up or not.

I'm thinking tonight to just leave MPStandbyHandler right out of the equation and just use Powerscheduler to do it's stuff as you had sucess with this Paranoid Delution in RC4.

Will give it a crack and let you know. If it doesn't work, I will try MPStandbyHandler with the same settings. I also notice a "Hardware Start / Stop" options - have you tried any of these?

Final question, why would the MP Home screen cause issues?

    Cheers

    Hi All,

OK, this is where I am up to on this really annoying issue.

Basically it makes no difference if I'm running MPStandbyHandler or just using straight Powerscheduler - I'm missing recordings:mad::mad::mad:

All the testing I have been doing is either overnight or over the course of a day when I'm at work. I test on HD recordings AND Analog recordings which are set during this time e.g. 2 HD recordimgs and 1 Analog recording. I have a NOVA 500-T card and PVR 150 card which are both dual channel (the reason for this is that Prime TV is on Analog only)

What I have noticed is that either 1 or 2 out of the 3 recordings is sucessful.

I have taken Paranoid Delusion's advice and left the machine sitting on the desktop before it goes to sleep so MP is out of the equation (previously I left it on the MP Main Menu and this would freeze up)

I have dropped the TV.log file which should give some clues (I'm not technical) and you will notice the 2:00am recording on 7/12/08 was sucessful and the next recording at 4:00am is not. The machine seems to be continually trying to record for the length of the program (4:00am to 5:00am) as you can see it repeatitively trying and to me it looks like the tuner card is not available - I would love an opinion on this. The same thing happned between 6:00am and 7:00am.

Another observation is that the machine is sucessful with 1 card and not the other i.e. HD or Analog (NOVA 500-T or PVR150) i.e. the single Analog recording without the 2 HD OR sucessful with the 2 HD's and not the Analog, which is making me suspicious that there is some sort of conflict.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Graham

Ok for me things have gone weird since thursday, TVServer has stopped recording randomly after resume.

Now for what i found, only one of my tuners on the T500 was working, although TVServer said they were both ok, if a recording tried to use card2 to record with pc woke up fine, but no recording took place, not even 0 size file was produced.
You can find out if this has occured by trying to retune channels in config, the failed card will just show red unable to tune errors.

Have now installed MPStandbyHandler with these settings and so far it seems to be responding and both tuners are now working.

Now the only thing that changed on my pc Thursday when this happened, was WebEPG failed to update the TVGuide from Radio Times, but this should have absolutely no affect on the tuners themselves.

Now going to shot myself in foot for saying how well things were working.

Log file has only 2 entries, can you post up the one with the information that you previously mentioned.

    Hi 5Hundred,

Gutted - I must have zipped the wrong file and I rebooted last night, so the TV.log file for the time period I mentioned has been deleted doh!!

Today I tried setting the TV Tuner delay to 90 seconds and would you believe it, it recorded all the channels I had set, although I might not have left a big enough gap between each recording to test properly - I have noticed that it's often when I leave the machine in sleep mode for extended periods the issue is more prominent.

Anyhow, the last recording was at 5:00pm and the one I have set each day at 7:00pm did not start properly when I looked in MP i.e. I turned on the TV, opened MP and the recording indicator was not on - I take it it comes on to indicate recording - correct? Perhaps I should look in TVS instead?

    Cheers

    Graham

    Hi Paranoid Delusion,

Interesting that you of all people are now getting a similar issue - great to know I'm not going crazy!!

As mentioned previously, my recordings seemed to have worked today if I increase the TV Tuner delay tfrom 60 seconds to 90 seconds, however a daily scheduled recording did not work tonight - weird!!

I'm going to schedule again tonight 2 recordings - 1 on HD and the other Analog (both separate dual tuners) and see what happens without MPStandbyHandler. I will try and set them on the TV Guide as late as possible. Do you still think MPStandbyHandler is required then under RC4? Sounds like the sleep issues are still not sorted, does it?

Will let you know how it goes and will try and avoid re-booting the machine for a decent log file.

    Cheers

I really would try and find out why your system is so slow that you have to enable such a delay, Have you got access to another hdd, if so how quick is your file copying times per gb, the other thing is slow network connection, possibly wireless, make sure you have all the latest drivers from your motherboard manufacturer or chip maker, also the latest bios. check any memory is running in dual channel mode also.

    Regards

Hi again, without logs its really all conjecture, there may or may not be relevance to the delay. Wait until it fails again and then post up all the logs and when you do so give the information of which recordings failed, from which TV card so we can correlate this to the logs.
