Can someone help me setup this utility? I have installed it but I have no idea what to do in all that tab windows,... I'm sorry, but I'm not that familiar yet with this standby stuff. I have vista 32b.

I have a single seat setup (server + client on one htpc near the tv. I have huge difficulties with standby. For some reason I can't get it to work properly. Sometimes the system will wake up fine for a recording but then after the recording it won't go into S3. On other occasions it won't wake up for a recording at all. I have tried suspend (S3) and Hibernate. Hibernate gives different issues. At resume there is an error in the hiberfil.sys file, so windows can't restore from it.

All in all I have very unpredictable results. After reading through numerous threads I saw this plugin recomended a number of times. But, now that I have it installed I don't know what to do, how to set it up.

A few pages back someone posted a lot of screen shots. I can get all of them the same, except for the ones in this plugin.... How do you get these rules setup?

I have the same setup and same problem as written here.
I configured the tool as written op page 25.
This problem occurs when using hibernate. I'm currently testing suspend, so I don't know the outcome yet.

Anybody know what's going wrong?

    feature request

    Hi josch.hh,

would it be possible to add a new feature to MPStandbyHandler?
I would like to have the function to halt and resume a prozess like the tool pssuspend.exe ( Link: PsSuspend ) does.

The benefit is to halt Mediaportal.exe during the restart of TVService so that Mediaportal will not loose the connection to TVService.
I have tested it with a batch file and the Hibernate Trigger. It works perfekt und now resume is really fast.

    This is my batch-file:
    Code:
    "%~dp0pssuspend" MediaPortal.exe
    "%~dp0wait" 2
    taskkill /im TVService.exe /F
    "%~dp0wait" 1
    net start TVService
    "%~dp0pssuspend" -r MediaPortal.exe

I dont know why but this batch-file is not working with MPStandbyHandler. And Hibernate Trigger does not work correctly on my machine when it resumes per PowerScheduler (i have to press a key during resume).

OK so we installed MPstandbyHandler2.0.0.7 on two seperate Vista 32 Premium machines, identical hardware and software on them, it did not seem to do anything for us, so we used the .bat uninstall file and removed it.

We figured we would just use the button on the case to standby the machine or just let it run 24/7, as it sure seems that system standby with MP is just out of reach..

Well now both machines will start to go into standby regardless of the settings in Vista power management, this will happen even when in full screen in MediaPortal while actually using the remote or a mouse and browsing content. We currently have vista set in high performance mode and have went to the advanced settings and changed everything so that nothing ever sleeps or hibernates or even turns off, yet still this is happening.

Any suggestions, maybe you could let me know what all settings are maid by MPstandbyHandler2.0.0.7 so that we can try and manually reverse them also clean up after it.

Thanks it seems like a great app, just does not seem to work for us and may just have to do with our hardware, we just want to get back to the system staying on now so we actually use MP without the screen starting to black out every couple minutes.

    Hi,
I would like to say great pluggin but as I am on Vista64 it has given me no amount of trouble.
My system has the Hauppage Nova T500 card and an S2 card in there and I was having trouble getting them to re initialise after a resume from sleep.
I installed your MPSH to see if I could get things to work. I to had the problem of no hardware shown in the drop down menu. I put the HTPC to sleep and woke it up. It skipped my hardware reinitialise as obviously I hadn't selected any. It seemed to be doing what was required.
I then did a full power down of the HTPC to do a hardware reset. After the HTPC was powered back up again everything then went haywire??

The HTPC kept going into sleep for no reason whatsoever. I had put it on to transfer some files to it across the network. By the time I went from my front room to my back room to send the files it had gone to sleep???? So I woke it up and tried to have a look to see what was going on. Whilst I was browsing it went into sleep on its own ????
I brought it back up and this just kept on happening. I noticed the yellow MPSH icon in the tray so exited it. No more shutting down. I then went to uninstall MPSH from its own uninstaller that comes with it. After a reboot MPSH was back??? I went to the uninstaller again but it said that it couldn't uninstall it as some components were missing??

I had my settings in MPSH as per Paranoid Delusion's settings earlier in this thread. I also had the power sheduler pluggin set up in TVserver.

Is it possible for me to manually uninstall the MPSH as it is wreaking havoc on my system right now

PS I tried reinstalling MPSH to rectify the missing files. I then uninstalled again, to which it said that it was successful. Restarted and MPSH was running in the system tray again??

    Any help appreciated here

    Regards

    Kev

Im having this same problem, except i thought I had the whole system cleaned of MPSH, no matter what I do with Vista Power management, the system keeps going into standby, even when i am moving the mouse??

Did you ever get yours fixed, if so may I ask what you had to do, as I have two systems suffering from this same problem.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

is use MPStandbyHandler to stop TVService before Standby and restart it at Resume

    Settings
    Suspend: TVServiceStop, Killemmidiately
    Resume: TVServiceStart, Delay 3s.

It solves my standby problem but now i get the problem that PowerScheduler is not working any more.
    What can i do?

This is how it is supposed to work - if you kill TVService before going into standby, the wake up timer cannot be set.

    Brgs,
    jayrock

And Hibernate Trigger does not work correctly on my machine when it resumes per PowerScheduler (i have to press a key during resume).

    Wolfi

    Have you tried StartOnWake?

At the moment i use Ikuech's PowerEventHandler and the Batch-File i have posted and everything is working perfekt for me. But i would be happy to have this feature in MPstandbyHandler too.

I'm killing MP when suspending, and on resume first I kill TVServer, then start it and finally start MP.

This is working fine if I wake PC using MCE remote. However, if Powerscheduler wakes up the machine when a recording is due, the screen stays black as long as I push any key in the MCE remote. Only the cursor is shown on the screen, otherwise it's completely black.

Not a big issue as such, but is there a way to fix this? I'm using Vista.

Here's one I'm having. Powerscheduler is shutting down the machine 10 mins after the system goes idle. Let's say I have 2 recordings in the middle of the night, one at 12:30am till 1am and one at 2:30am till 3am. I have MPStandbyHandler set to stop MediaPortal, stop the TVService, and then run an external command to reboot the machine all on resume (was having issues with standard resume, but was able to fix everything with a quick reboot, so it stayed). Now, the machine wakes up fine 5 mins before the 12:30am recording (the 5 mins is to give ample time to reboot the machine and get MediaPortal started again). The system wakes up fine, does the recording and then goes back to sleep again. When the machine wakes up for the second recording though, nothing is recorded and the machine just goes back to sleep (Albeit, not the same type of sleep as the first one). Checking my MPstandbyHandlerService.err.2 log file (the one from the second recording that never happened) I have this listed:

4/7/2009 2:24:10 AM - WARNING OnResume - OnResume called but not suspended

So, then I checked my tv.log file and here is the important parts:

As you can see, the machine goes and does the right thing the first time when it suspends its self, but the second time, I don't think it suspends the same way and therefore, MPStandbyHandler doesn't realize it was an actual suspend and doesn't run it's commands. Anyone have any ideas, or is this more for the General Support area as it looks like it has more to do with PowerScheduler? Thanks to anyone that can help.

This is for calling a batch, exe, etc file on resume or standby. Not to actually put a link in the MP menu. See MultiShortcut plugin for that functionality
