MSN messenger plugin don't work? (1 Viewer)

The MSN plugin doesn't work on my mediaportal, when I try to
login I got this message: Could not connect to messenger.

Any suggestion that to do?

When I use the MSN messenger I have installed in win xp,
everything works fine.

MSN Messenger Crashes MP

Yeah, I'm having problems with MSN aswell. As soon as I'm about to jump into a CHAT with someone, the entire MP just crashes. Any help?

I have the exact same problem as the original poster. It worked perfectly for me in previous versions, but now all I get is "Can't connect to MSN". There seems to be no answer anywhere in these forums either. Would it be because the version of MSN I have installed is a newer one? It's the only thing that wont work for me.

Hi,
I'm on MP 0.2RC4 + mediaportal-svn-04-28-2006--01-03

I use the MSN plugin & it works very well here.
Have som trouble with the keyboard when chatting, but other than that it works.

Try without firewall & other clients using the same MSN name at the same time.

Thanks for your reply. I just installed the latest CVS, but still having no luck. It still comes up with "Could not connect to MSN". Does MP use the MSN Messenger program at all? Should I even bother trying to install a previous version of MSN and see if that works?

no it uses its own plugin, on my HTPC i don't have activated MSN at all, just the MP plugin it's used.

Hi,

What about filling in the support template and (even better) posting the mediaportal.log? (preferrably @ http://mp.pastebin.com with a link in your post) Then we can see what's really going on.

BTW, MP crashing while entering or leaving the chat window should be solved in current SVN. And, like ronilse said, MP uses a separate library for interfacing with MSN, so there's no need to install or upgrade MSN Messenger.

Come on guys, you are asking for help, but no one considers how hard it is to try and troubleshoot a problem blind? Blind = no info on your system.

If you have read anything please read the sticky note post, which you can get to by just clicking on the General Support link at the top. Then download the support tool and use it, it is the least you can do.

washy - use one of the main (MCE or BlueTwo) skins and see if it still has the same problem.
