I really would not recommend that - there could be unexpected consequences...
While I remember, the team have made some improvements to tuner identification for 1.2.0b:

The ID under TV Servers in the left hand pane is the ID from the database. This is the authoritative ID. It is *not* the same as the priority used in the right hand pane of The TV Server card list.

The database ID is now used.

Under TV channels the tuners are ordered by priority.

The database ID has been added beside the name.

Under manual control the "Card" column is an index of priority and the tuners are ordered by priority (this is probably the most confusing since it doesn't use either the ID or priority!!!).

The "card" column now contains the database ID.

In the TV log tuners are listed in order of priority with database IDs also specified when TV Server loads. Any references like "Tune x to <channel>" refer to the database ID.

More references to the database ID have been added.

In short, the database ID should be used to identify your card from 1.2.0b onwards...

I am newbie, and trying MP.
how about, if I install 2nd (same as 1st) card on my machine. old numbering stays? how about if I switch the two cards? numbering still stays?

why it can't be using mac-address / device / chip unique address.

Once I had a problem (with beyond TV) : my old server has 6 dual channel cards (records 12 channels) and one of 6 card's one chip was damaged. (dual channel's one was working one was dead) It was really difficult to find out which card's chip's damaged.

off topic question : if I delete recorded file manually, database doesn't check if file exists or not. (I need, if file does not exists then should delete it from db)

I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure that the channel mappings are remembered, so it might stay the same.

A device path column was also added to the list of tuners in the system. Hopefully that should help.
