I think it should be possible to use some sort of "splitter" to connect the two tuners to the same DVB-S outlet.

No, not possible as the LNB (bit that sticks out the front of the dish on the arm) is powered by the device attached to it (in this case a DVB-S PC card but could be a set top box etc.) therefore each DVB-S input requires a seperate feed from the dish hence you have dual / quad / oct (2 / 4 / 8) output LNB's.

    hi there,

so I set up my server and installed the core services on my server and added the tuners of my htpc and server to the 4tr management console.
now what I don't understand is how the priority stuff works and where I have to configure this stuff?

I only found a priority setting in the management console under Tuners.

    My goal is:
the server is used primary for recordings and the htpc primary for live tv. how and especially where do I have to configure these priorities?

The priority setting in the management console is the one you want.

    1. Start the management console
    2. Go to 'recorder/tuners' under administration
    3. Give the htpc recorder/tuner a priority of 1
    4. Give the server recorder/tuner a priority of 2
    5. Save your changes
    6. Now go to 'settings' under administration
    7. In the 'Recording conflicts' section, make sure the setting 'Swap recorder/tuner priority for recordings to avoid conflicts with live TV' is checked (which is the default option anyway)
    8. Save your changes

This should now mean that the following will happen:
    • You watch live tv - the htpc is used as it has a higher priority
    • A recording starts - the server is used as the priorities are swapped around, hence the server has a higher priority

You'll obviously need to double check this as my system is configured differently, but I'm pretty certain this is correct.

the only worry I have is that 4TR is messing with my refreshrate. I use the automatic refreshrate changer. Last time I installed 4TR it didn't change the refreshrate when watching pal TV. After uninstalling everything was fine again...
Works here fine. But use the latest beta, don't know for 1.3.x. Version 1.4 should be out in a few weeks.
