I've just taken the plunge with a fresh RC1 install.

I've got a strange error in Music Views. In the 'Year' view I like the list of years to be in descending order from 2008, downwards. I've attached screenshots of how I have the music view set up and also of the view in MP.

No matter which setting I have though - it makes no difference the list is in ascending order of dates (1957... onwards) also changing the sort order with the arrow next to Date, has no affect.

instead of sorting by date, have you tried year (instead of Date) in the sortby column within config?

Date is the only chronological sort criteria available.
