Well... let's see some new/original/fresh ideas for a basic home screen peeps

Something like Alaska skin for XBMC (pic1.jpg)?

Current style is nice but with accents it dosn't look so good (pic2.jpg).

@ Trottel, if you can provide a hires 1920x1080 screenshot, I can make adjustments to the gfx files to include the accents in the navbars

Love how professional the design of this skin is and how smooth looking the OSD is. I might redo a few screens in Essence-1080p and I might borrow some of the GFX from you, if you have no objections.

In Moving Pictures, bottom right of the screen, the 'Filter' isn't displaying correctly - see attached.

hi,

i for one like the basichome the way is now , clear and simple ..look good ...

the only thing i think need some work is the pilot of new add movies,tv,music....

right now the pilot bg is white and the font are black ,wich block the fanarts ...and look out of place.

i think clear tranpernt bg with white or lite grey font will feed more to the basic home and the look of the skin ...

just my 2 cent.....

How about something like this? The idea is having those boxes move in and out like in the Alaska Basic Home. I can work some more on it if I get feedback.

As long as the current basichome is still available to be used then I will be happy, I prefer the current one as it is simplistic, im not a fan of big and bold menus

I made some changes to my first design. In this version, the backdrop reflect the currently selected Latest episode. I think that utilizing the option to show two different backdrops at the same time (one in the small window and one in the background) would look cool if possible. I've also put the header labels for each menu item in front of the small window to increase the sense of depth a bit. I quite like that white "mist" in the bottom of the screen where the RSS is displayed as well as providing a "floor" for the shadows under the windows to show up on.

The radius on the Latest items box is a bit too big, but I'll just can't be bothered to change that now unless someone says this will be used.
