mvCentral keeps crashing on playback over here. so far it seems unrelated to the files i play. the first video usually plays (although not always), the next one mostly will crash. after such a crash i need to reboot, because windows (xp) suddenly has become very slow...

Tricky to tell much without the logs, you have problems playing videos/movies/tvseries ?

no, videos/movies/tvseries usually work. playback may crash occasionally with these, but mostly it works.

Right, he is saying that he can not tell you what is wrong without being able to look at your logs.

Here is what you need to do.

First go into MediaPortal Config and click on General and set the log verbosity to "Debug"

Second go into MediaPortal and play videos in mvCentral. Wait for crash.

After the crash go to the MediaPortal Log directory at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log\ (that is the default location if you have not changed it) and find 2 files:

mediaportal.log
mvcentral.log

Once you have found those log files, right click on them to open/edit and select ALL text and copy it.

goto Paste2: Next Generation Pastebin - New Paste and past the contents of each file into the editor on paste2.org. Use a line of ======= or something to separate each file or make two separate pastes.

Save the paste and copy the link it returns and paste it into a forum post here.

Or put them in a zip file and upload to post using forum advanced + feature and attach to post, really don't like going to outside websites to view things.

BTW vonson, it can be hard to understand, but if u search those logs for "ERROR" you can see how some things are going wrong.

Thanks for these but there is is noting in here that seems to be a problem, did the error happen during while these logs were being generated?

I think I will need to see all logs, check out this wiki page Log Files - MediaPortal Wiki and set for Plugin Developer - run till the error happens and then post the logs.

Can you also try disabling I.F.C, I dont think this is the cause as I run it but it does produce a log of debug messages that makes it difficult to read the logs.

If you could update you system specs on your profile that would also help.

thanks, trevor. I'm busy at the moment, but I will try it again and post all the logs as explained in the thread that you linked.

however, i start to wonder if it is worth all the hassle - since noone else seems to have the problem. could this be a hardware-related issue? because i sometimes suspect my machine to show signs of age...
