Hi i'm back, I found that the calendar only shows local shows in past months (example march 2011), for me the calendar would be more usefull as a resource of finding new anime from my couch. weirdly, for current or future months it shows all shows that are in the anidb calendar.

This is the expected behaviour.

The CALENDAR function from AniDB only returns the previous 25, and next 25 shows from the day you request it, which we use to populate the calendar.
We fill in the rest of the calendar with any shows that you have in your collection (as we have that data available locally).

So if you have been running MA2 for a couple of years (with calendar updating once a day), you would have the full calendar for that period.

Hmmm sounds interesting, for what i understand is that there will be no way to get the previous months aswell? as in live fetching when looking at a month, like in browsing a webpage? its obvious why you wouldnt download any more series than those 50, because itd stress anidb more than it could handle probably. i find my anime 2 very usefull, it looks great and it works well.

No I don't think there are any plans to support that.
It would just lead to leeching and then subsequent bans.

it would be awesome though if it would be able to live-fetch data, like as you would in browsing the calendar on the web, but also storing the data aswell. i got no coding skills so i dont know how difficult something like that would be to implement, but i dont think people would get banned because of doing the same thing they otherwise would have done on the interwebs itself.

i was also wondering how the data harvesting works, it seems to do both thetvdb and anidb, how does that work? does it do thetvdb first and trying to compare hashes of data it hasnt found?

This is strictly not allowed by AniDB.
MyAnime actually started it's life as a web scraper, but I was told I was a very naughty boy, and I then switched to the proper API :)
But yes it would be nice.

No, it does the AniDB first, matching on file hashes.
Once it has AniDB information it then searches TheTvDB for fanart, posters, banners and episode images (based on the anime name)
If you have the web cache on it will also use manual AniDB -> TvDB links as submitted by other users.
TheTvDB is not used for file info.

    Hi there,

    just discovered that I have lots of double entries in the db after a relocation of my series to a different share
    i.e. for the ep entry::
    //share_old/folder/file1
    //share_new/folder/file1
    Share_Old is empty so I have no clue why the entries are not deleted

    Is there a way to clean up the db without starting from scratch?

    Side-note:
    Seems like the AnimeDB site can not be accessed currently. (no login possible via plugin)
    Can this be confirmed by somebody?

    Cheers,

    If you go to the utilities screen of the plug-in inside mediaportal and select More options. you get a menu with "Remove records without Physical File"
    That should fix your double entries. just make sure the share is available or it will delete all entries

    As for the AniDB connection, it might be worthwhile to check your logfile. It's working fine here
