Ok, first my configuration...

HTPC
MB: ASUS P8Z68-M PRO
CPU: Intel Core i3-2125
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 3000 (Sandy Bridge GT2)
Conected with HDMI t0:

AVR: Yamaha RX-V671

Connected with HDMI to:
TV: LG 50PK950(N)

My problem is as follows.

If I connect to HTPC with teamviewer or something and just power on the AVR the default sound device is my Yamaha and all supported formats are listed in Windows, If I then power on my TV the default sound device changes from the AVR to my TV and the supported formats no longer has the HD formats (DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD etc.).

I tried both drivers from Asus and drivers from Intel, no changes. I also installed Intel Management engine driver (ver. 7), also no changes.

I think it is some configuration of my AVR, but I can't seem to find it!

All help, comments, advices are much appreciated

Pretty sure this is a AVR setting. I'll digg into it, if you can confirm that you're still around and having this problem.

    Some things to check:

TV: Menu -> Sound: Make sure "Digital sound" is checked (just in case...)

    AVR:
    - Check if Audio Output is set to: AMP = ON, HDMI = OFF

checked both settings and CAR was as I thought ok (AMP =ON & HDMI=OFF)

TV Digitalsound is set to bitstream, should it be set to auto?

I tried both settings on th TV, but nothing changed, Windows still says that it is the LG TV and no DTS HD or Dolby true HD

    Hi there,

I think occasionally I have your issue. Do you find the audio comes out of your TV and not the Amp speakers when it happens?

Initially there is a correct start up order - from everything being powered off - Which I believe syncs/"trains" the AVR to the TV.

Have you tried the EDID override fix in windows?

I'll try and have a look when the wife isnt watching TV (which is most the time!)

No the audio never goes through the tv speakers, they are disabled in the configuration (on the TV)...

I can honestly say no to the EDID override, as I don't know what it is... I will try googling when I have the time...
