z3us that sucks i hate having hardware failures, hope you can get a new one soon.

Well it's been around 3 hours and i went and checked My Films again it's still only showing 15 movies though there's over 300 covers in the cover folder on the server. I know if i stop MP and then restart MP the 300 movies will show up in My films.

I wonder if i have to wait until AMCU finishes before they will show up without stopping MP what do you think?

Well The movies never did show up in My Films even after AMCU was finished i had to stop MP and turn it back on before the movies showed up.

files and logs attached for client and server.

Hi Dadeo,
Finally I've installed 1.2b so I could test the new MF release.
So far everything works fine with the latest version of XMM, no problem at all!

I'll send you later a PM with the string translated!

Thanks!
G.

AW: Re: AW: Re: My Films 5.0 alpha testing

Started another DB and the results from AMCU started from global options on the client machine still don't show up in My films on the client machine unless i restart MP.

    EDIT: Using MyFilms-5.0.1.1044(MP12).mpe1
    Hi TLD,
you mean they do not show up on the SAME machine (they should) or they do not show up on a DIFFERENT machine? (The latter is possible, as I introduced some caching). Can you test, if going to home and reentering MyFilms reads the (updated) DB?

The ANT Db is on the server machine. On the server machine i changed the MyFilms configuration to the UNC path of the new empty DB, covers, Fanart and personalPics folders, then i installed "MyFilms-5.0.1.1044(MP12).mpe1" I checked the MyFilms configuration to be sure everything was still setup as i wanted and it was so i saved the configuration.

On the client machine I uninstalled MyFilms including "MyFilms.xml", "MyFilmsAMCSettings.xml", "MyFilmsAMCSettings_Ted 1.xml", "MyFilmsLogos.xml", "MyFilmsSampleGrabber.xml" along with all MyFilms logs and MyFilms thumbs.

Then i installed "MyFilms-5.0.1.1044(MP12).mpe1" and copied the new "MyFilms.xml" from the server machine. Started MyFilms configuration and checked all settings to be sure they matched the settings of the server machine and they did except the AMCU which didn't have the paths the movie folders so i put the UNC paths to the the movie folders in AMCU and started it to see if the settings were the same as the AMCU on the server machine. I ran AMCU long enough to get 2 movies to be sure everything was working as expected and the ant db was updated as expected on the server machine.

I saved the AMCU configuration and the MyFilms configuration and started MP (still on the client machine), then started a global update the 2 movies that had been picked up when i ran AMCU when configuring were showing in MY Films, then i watched some recorded TV for 15 or 20 minutes, stopped that and went back to my Films to see how things were going. only the two movies that were originally there were showing so i checked the fanart folder on the server machine and there 15 fanart folders there so i stopped MP then started MP and the 15 new movies were showing in My Films.

At the moment the AMCU is still running when it is finished i will upload all "logs", "MyFilms.xml" and "MyFilmsAMCSettings_Ted 1.xml" from both machines.

Hi TLD - I checked your logs, and I think the reported problem itself is not a malfunction - but more a usability issue!?:
It is correct, that MF does NOT update each movie to the DB when you run the background importer.
When you launch the "global update/import" - it is processing all movies and adding all missing movies - and this can take quite some time for "first time import". If the import is finished, it should automatically reload the DB and updated DB and infos should show up in the GUI (I tested that several times here with sample movie db and it works here like that).
This should be no big issue in "normal" usage - as importing only a few movies doesn't take a long time.
So I would suggest to repeat that test with a sample directory - or if you already have built your DB, by just adding a single movie - run global update and see, if it works (should only take minutes).
I also noticed several exception in your log - those should be fixed for next version - and might improve behaviour of the app.

AW: Re: My Films 5.0 alpha testing

I cant download fanart for this movie:
    Battle: Los Angeles — TMDb
I tried also manually in amcu and from MF GUI, but no results. Searching with the same words in themoviedb web goes to the film page. AMCu downloads fanart from themoviedb, doesnt it? Using translated or original title?
Hi, it is working here - so if you provide me your MyFilms.xml settings and your DB (just this one record should be enough) I can have a look.
As I didn't get further infos, I assume this is solved and close issue here.

What database fields should I check to download thumbs for person views?
    Thanks
There is no database fields to be selected - person thumbs are / will be handled same way as fanart.

I tried adding 1 movie and it worked as expected and the movie was shown after AMCU was finished.

    Thanks for testig and confirming.
I have put the topic of "active background import" on my tracker - now yet sure, how is the best way to solve that.
In next test version, it should at least be possible to stop an active background import from GUI.

I see that the watched field is a true or false field is the any way to use a field that has is a number so we could get a watched count instead of just a watched status.

    Hi TLD,
I have planned some rework of that for later version - and it is planned to also take a user conext into the concept - as usually watched count alone is just useless, if several users are involved.
But we have the same "problem" here as with the fanart - using the record ID will not work for users renumbering their DB.
You could add it to the tracker as feature request. You'll get at least one additional star from me ;-)
