Feature request: when grabbing info from internet, would be great to have the option of selecting automatically films with year match if there is only one

that is already possible and done, when selecting "try to find best match automatically".
However, it is only done, if the title match is "close enough" - so when your title does match and there is only one movie for the year, it will be "autoapproved" and thus imported.

I would like to be able to perform global updates of only a field from inside MF GUI. So I could update only rating using IMDB scrapper or download spanish covers from alpacine

Hi z3us - I already asked Guzzi about a similar feature when using Incomplete Movie Data. When I find all the films missing Country, or Language or whatever, I want to be able to update them all from MF GUI in a batch and just update that field for all films where it is missing. At present I have to update each film one by one. I know I can do it in AMCUpdater but I want to be able to use the Incomplete Movie data in MF Gui and then update from there.

Another bug(?) : In MF config - internet grabbing, I have the "dont use default script (always ask)" option checked. But the script selection pop menu only is showed when updating a individual film, not when performing a global update. Perhaps is it the intended behaviour?

THe current situation is:
- The matching engine is located inside AMCupdater
- In MF GUI you can manually update a single movie
- Global updates are done by launching the AMCupdater as a background process with a configuration file to run silently in background

So a possible solution would be:
- Create an AMCupdater config that matches your needs (that is: only selecting the single field you want to update)
- Add the option to run "update" via launch parameters (currently only "import" is supported)
- Add option in MF GUI to select the config for AMCupdater you want to run

THis way, you could create the update scenarios, you would like to have.
It is not so nicely integrated, but should meet the requirement.
Only other alternative is to move the code parts of AMCupdater (VB) to the grabber engine (C#) and make it available to MF code directly. A lot more work, so something for the time I am bored - so noone knows when ;-) ...

This is not a bug, but intended behaviour. The script for global updates is configured in AMCupdater setup/AMCupdater config.
(The update of FIlms from inside MF GUI is an "addon" - and yes, it is not so obvious, that it is completely different code (MF plugin vs. AMCupdater) - and thus settings).
It should not be too hard to add a feature to select the scraper for global update by modifying it.
However, this should be in a clean context of how global updates are supposed to work in the future.
Looking at the request you had before, it is somehow that you want to fully (or at least "more") control AMCupdater from insude MF GUI - so what is necessary is a concept how this should happen.
To think about that, in a first step, it should be collected, what possibly should be accessible/controllable from MF GUI.

Thanks for your answers, Guzzi. Yes, both requests are related. I modified a script (alpacine) and deleted all fields except the cover, so I would be able to do a global update, downloading spanish covers for all films selecting that script from inside GUI.

they're "nowhere" - that was a possible solution for the feature you asked for - it is not yet implemented and I just made a suggestion for a discussion about it. Only the part "the current situation" is already present.

I will perform the update launching AMCu with a external shortcut.
Is it still possible to launch AMCu in batch mode? what format should I use? I cant find anything in the wiki
