Hi all
I'm having a problem with M3U playlists in My Music.

My MP3 collection is organised into folders by album and each album contains a single M3U playlist file that includes all of the tracks from the album.

Since one of the later SVN builds of 0.2.2 I've been unable to play the albums using the M3U playlist. Playing the album by selecting the first MP3 in the list works correctly.

Here's a clip from the log which shows me entering My Music, browsing to the album folder and attempting to start the M3U. I then back out of the playlist screen and start the 1st MP3 file manually which works.

Hi markius,

You need to generate playlists containing the full path of the tracks.
So 'S:\My Music\CD Collection\Artist Albums\16B - How to Live 100 Years\[01] 16B - Inbetween your Choice.mp3' instead of '[01] 16B - Inbetween your Choice.mp3'.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Unfortunately MediaPortal isn't the only application that I use to play my MP3's... it's important that I don't include the full path within the M3U file. For example, I also play the same MP3's over HTTP using IIS.
In this case, if I were to include the full path (S:\Shared Music\CD Collection.....") in the M3U file it would break playback over HTTP.

As I understand it, it is perfectly valid for an M3U file to contain the file name only. It is the responsibilty of the application (MediaPortal in this case) to understand that in that case it should look in the same folder as the M3U file for the MP3 files.

As I say, this was working fine until one of the more recent SVNs for MediaPortal.

Just a quick update to this...

I've modified the M3U file to use relative paths:
.\track1.mp3
.\track2.mp3
etc

This still doesn't play. It appears that MediaPortal definately doesn't like relative paths in M3U files.
