I'm wondering why my TV Server records the show I want, and the show immediately after it?

    For instance, tonight...

Grey's Anatomy is scheduled to record 9-10pm. I have my global configuration set up to start 1 minute early and end 1 minute late.

When you look at the TV Guide (or Upcoming Recordings) you see Grey's Anatomy and the next show after it highlighted in red. That means it records for TWO hours instead of 62 minutes.

This happens with other scheduled shows too. Modern Family, which is only 30 minutes, records the 30 minute show after it too, giving me a longer file than I need.

When you go back to Recorded TV to view these shows, you only see the title of the program you recorded. When you play it back, it will continue on to the next show.

What is with that? It's annoying to say the least.

    Hi gtfreymann

Logs required. It is the only way to track down a problem like this. Two options:

    Option 1

    1. Find the "debug mode" link in the "Team MediaPortal" folder in your start menu.
    2. Start it.
    3. Select option 3 "export all currently present logs".
    4. Click "proceed" - this will create a zip file on your desktop that you can post here.

    Option 2

    1. Open TV Server configuration.
    2. Click "open log directory" in the top left hand corner.
    3. Zip up all the files you find there and post them here.

Oh, I was hoping this wasn't unique to me ;-)

Using option 1, I've attached the zip file. I already set the server to debug mode last week so it may be full of lots of information that makes sense to you.

    Thanks very much!

    Hi again

According to your logs the schedule is for the full two hours + 1 minute:

    2011-11-10 20:59:09.002532 [scheduler thread(9)]: Scheduler: Time to record 212 CFTO 8:59 PM-11:00 PM Grey's Anatomy

The following recording was for 61 minutes:

2011-11-10 21:59:02.485185 [scheduler thread(9)]: Scheduler: Time to record 211 CIII 9:59 PM-11:00 PM Prime Suspect

Based on that, TV Server is just doing exactly as instructed (no offence intended!). I guess the question would be: how are you scheduling the recordings?

Yes, for some reason Prime Suspect records properly. Every time I schedule Grey's Anatomy it wants to record 2 hours. In fact, when you look at the onscreen TV Guide *three* programs in a row are highlighted in red to be recorded.

I've deleted the recording schedule and re-added it but it always does the same thing (records two shows back to back).

I either find the show on the night it is recording or search for the show.

Then I click advanced recording options, and I use the record weekly on this channel option.

After that I can go and look at upcoming Recordings and see Grey's Anatomy + the next show + the next show in the upcoming list. It's weird.

If you like I can delete the schedule and re-schedule and attach the logs again?

    Thanks again for your time.

Right now under "Scheduled Recordings" -- for "Modern Family" it is showing 3 shows in a row recording. I've attached a screen capture.

I'm pretty sure I would have selected Modern Family, went into advanced record, and selected record this show weekly on this channel.

But it always shows Modern Family + the next two shows, and it always records 62 mins instead of just 32 mins.

If I cancel the schedule of any of the other 2 programs, all 3 disappear.
