    Hi,

    in analog multituner environment all tuners except the first one seem to record static. This is because the input source setting (antenna / cable) seems not to be read correct for tuning.

    mediaportal-cvs-03-29-2006--01-04.rar
    * use muli analog tuners (PVR 500 / or muliple PVR 150 / 250 / 350)
    * with cable as input source

    - start MP
    - start My TV
    - schedule two overlapping recordings
    - wait until finished
    - the second recording is tuned wrong (mostly static)

    This can be seen in the logs:
    29.03.2006 20:22:08 SinkGraph:confused:tartTimeShifting()
    29.03.2006 20:22:08 SinkGraph:TuneChannel() tune to channel:22 country:49 standard:None name:ZDF
    29.03.2006 20:22:08 Twinhan: check for twinhan driver
    29.03.2006 20:22:08 SinkGraph:TuneChannel() tuningspace:0 country:49 tv standard:None cable:False
    29.03.2006 20:22:09 SinkGraph:TuneChannel() tuned to channel:22 county:49 freq:479,25 MHz. tvformat:pAL_B signal:HasNoSignalStrength

    Should be cable true, like the first tuner.

    Hi,

    wanna *bump* this one up with some additional information:
    SVN: mediaportal-svn-04-05-2006--12-21.rar

    - MP still selects the wrong input source (antenna) for the second recording.

    For testing please make sure you set all frequencies to "0" in the TVDatabase. Only this way the bug can be seen. Make two overlapping recordings with the same channel. I do see this in mediaportal.log:

    Hi FlipGer,

    I'll try to duplicate this one tomorrow, even though it'll be difficult to do so, since all stations are a bit off-frequency from the standard channel frequency here :/ . Thanks for the heads-up.

    Kind regards,
    Michel

    Synopsis::

    I started recording on channel 46 then switched to channel 45 and got static. Here is the log during this.

    4/6/2006 6:13:08 PM SinkGraph:TuneChannel() tune to channel:45 country:1 standard:None name:45 HISTORY
    4/6/2006 6:13:08 PM Twinhan: check for twinhan driver
    4/6/2006 6:13:08 PM SinkGraph:TuneChannel() tuningspace:0 country:1 tv standard:None cable:True
    4/6/2006 6:13:09 PM SinkGraph:TuneChannel() tuned to channel:45 county:1 freq:349.25 MHz. tvformat:NTSC_M signal:NoSignal

    Everything looks ok except for the "No Signal" part.

    In my eyes the only reason why you would NOT get a signal... is because the frequency is wrong. My suggestion is to clean out all your logs, run an auto tune, and then save that log. You should all the CORRECT frequencies in there. When you get fuzzy channel, check to see what it was using as the frequency to your master list. I have done this several times (awhile back) and it was picking the wrong ones. From what I have hear, Europe has standards for their channels. Here in the US, I don't think this is the case. I think there is a master list within MP that is causing it to choose wrong frequencies. This is why it is very important to make sure you have frequency values for all your channels.

    Another theory I have, is MP is (for what ever reason) switching your cable value to antenna. When it switches over to antenna, it uses a different frequencies list and therefore comes up with fuzzy channels.

    Hi,

    As promised I tried this today. This is what I've done:
    - removed the frequency from one of my channels (so now it was 0,75MHz off)
    - started watching another channel (and recording as well)
    - scheduled a recording from the guide for a program that was on at the channel without any frequency assigned.

    My 1st tuner has prio=10, the 2nd has prio=1, so the 1st tuner is always the one that comes first. The log also shows the 2nd tuner is chosen for the scheduled recording. It does show the "Cable:False" message, but the frequency next to the country is shown correct in the logfile for channel 43: 647,25MHz. It also shows it has a signal present.

    So I cannot duplicate this. :(

    But, the problem must somehow be country-related? Because here in NL the frequency for channel 22 is 479,25MHz. Could this be driver related perhaps? Also, if I look at http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabelfernsehen , there it clearly states that channel 22 for german television is also on 479,25MHz...

    I admit it's strange that viewing TV does not reveal this problem but I'm getting the feeling something else is wrong here? :confused:

    Kind regards,
    Michel

    Hi,

    first off all thanks for testing! :)

    Yeah, its really somewhat confusing. Did some more tests. This really only effects recording two programs at the same time and not watching TV.
    What I did try next was recording one and timeshifting with the other card => everything ok. The second card did tune correct and it used cable: true.

    Then I scheduled again two overlapping recordings on the same channel (this time RTL channel 30). Did go to main menu. After both recordings did start again the same effect. The second tuner did have cable: false and recorded on the wrong frequency.

    And here comes the nice part. Thanks for the link to wikipedia (WP)! Hopefully I can express my self good enough. :)

    As you stated above Kanal 22 (ZDF) on WP has the frequency 479.
    But this is the wrong frequency for Cable (ZDF) it should be 189, this one is taken by MP for live TV and the first recording.
    Looking in WP 189 is also called Kanal 7 and this one fits with the table I got from my cable provider, it states K07 for ZDF (channel 22). I think Kanal 22 (freq 479) is only for antenna here in germany.

    So MP takes the right frequency, if Cable: true.

    Since this seems to be country related, I have a different test procedure:

    Configure:
    - edit first card
    * set country germany
    * set input source cable
    - edit second card
    * set country germany
    * set input source cable
    - edit channels
    * create a new one called DUMMY
    * set channel = 22
    * set frequency = 0

    MP:
    - schedule two overlapping recordings on channel DUMMY
    - stay in home screen while recording!
    - look into mediaportal.log (no need to check the recordings, they surely will be wrong or static)

    You should see:
    card1: Cable TRUE freq 189
    card2: Cable TRUE freq 189

    If this is a bug you will see:
    card1: Cable TRUE freq 189
    card2: Cable FALSE freq 479 (because MP takes the antenna table and not the cable table)

    To conclude. IMHO cable: false for the second tuner while recording is a bug.

    BTW: People with analog multituner please also check this one out...

    Greetings and thanks in advance,

    Hi FlipGer,

    Well, then you should specify your channel as "K7" in Setup -> Television -> TV Channels. Please also look in Databases\TV\TVChannel.cs at the property SpecialChannels. It's a SpecialChannelStruct array containing a mapping for channels to frequencies. K7 is listed there as 189250000L, thus 189,25MHz.

    Kind regards,
    Michel

    Hi Michel,

    well, that works.....

    But it does not solve the issue / question:
    Why is cable=false on the second tuner if I schedule overlapping recordings?

    Because with cable=true and channel 22 instead of K07 MP also tunes correct in Autotune and Live TV! :)
