Well azureus running on the same machine as mediaportal probly not a good idea, causing stuttering in My TV every now and then, probably disk accesses. So I setup my original Az installation on another machine to watch the

c:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Torrents

shared directory on the MP box. This is where the My Torrents plugin stores test.torrent. Periodically Az will check there and copy and run any new torrent file it finds. Works like a charm. The HTML interface in Az allows me to check in the web browser that it picked up the torrent. Except in exclusive directx mode, maybe this is a bug I should report, anybody else noticed this?

Thanks for the tip :D What plugin do you use for this?
I have not noticed web browser would not work when directx exclusive mode is active.

Another nice thing is the e-mail plugin that sends an e-mail when the torrent is done.

Azureus HTML WebUI, there is the swing interface as well but I'm not sure how the web browser would react to a java driven interface.

EDIT:

The "bug" I mentioned earlier only happens when exiting myTV or MyVideos and going to Web Browser, if I view a trailer before going to Web Browser then I get a normal view. Wierd! Wonder if my TV card/Video Card is not relinquishing directx fully, if I knew more about it I could comment. Unfortunately what I know about the workings of directx could be written on a postage stamp, a very small postage stamp in extremely large letters!

efros, let me know if there is anything I can change to make it easier for your remote az setup. I never thought anyone would use the \torent folder like that.

Some ideas:

- Allow you to set where the .torrent file is written out.
- Generate a unique name for each .torrent file so they do not get overwritten.
- Make the call to shell.execute optional. Since you are downloading from a remote machine I'm wondering what happens on your mp box when you select a torrent? It should be asking the os to handle the file.
- Allow you to set a url to your remote az machine so that it tells it to download the torrent file. Assuming the az web interface supports this.

Hi there,

first three points yes please, the last one I dont think is necessary. I have wiped the .torrent extension from the recognized file types so shell execute don't work anyway and my shell is MP also. The watch folder I have set on the MP box but I would really like this to be on the Az box, the torrent file name is only a problem when you are selecting more than one torrent at a time, so selectable file name or just the name of the torrent would be great.

Cheers!

I'd reccomend uTorrnet. Azureus uses the JDK which is extremely system intensive. uTorrent does not have all the bells and whistles and plugins like azureus but it is small, stale, and should work perfectly.

The object here was to be able to monitor what the bt client was doing from within the MP interface. utorrent at this time hs no html interface.

Besides most people can find an old computer in the trash to use as a server. 400 mhz was my previous server and it worked great with azureus.
At least I want a lot of features.

The XML over http plugin for azureus looks hopeful if only I could find some decent documentation for it!
