MyTrailers plugin (3 Viewers)

What r your thoughts on integrating this in MyVideos?
Having each and every function as a seperat plugin clutters MP IMHO and making it harder to use (low WAF)

Would be great if we could have it as a sub in MyVideos (using a button) or some other great simple way.

Just food for thought here.

I just reloaded MP from scratch and loaded on the latest CVS. I was testing out my trailers and found out that it shows a ton of movies by alphabetical order. I was wonder if and when it is added to my video's we could search by date it came out or by year. I would like to see something like Up and coming releases. For me, I really don't care about a movie I have seen 4 years back. I remember using the apple trailers plugin for meedio and what I would do is put them all in order by the date they showed up on the site. This way I would put all the new movie trailers at the top and I could watch those. It would also be cool to be able to grab the Date the movie was released in the theatre instead of just the year.

As of now the plugin is looking killer! Keep up the good work.

I have a bug to indicate, when I start your plugin (a REAL great one!), choose a film, watch a trailer or clip, everything is OK.

But when I come back to the list of available videos, it shows the video names and the movie description on top ... see http://www.mytempdir.com/227267

German trailers

Hi zipperzip,

first of all: great job!

I noticed that "german trailers" are added to your plugin. That works fine.
Is it possible to change the location for "All movies, most watched, etc." to a another web location as well (yahoo.de). I suggest to make it configurable inside the setup section.

And a second issue: What do you think about a plugin that shows the complete actual movie program from your town? (Similar to the weather plugin.)

Thanks for reporting. I will have a look at it this weekend.

It is currently added to myvideo's with a link. Search by date won't work because you will have to make about 2000 url requests to yahoo and i don't think they will like that :wink:. Search by year should be possible will put it on the TODO-list.

It is sort of possible. The problem is all yahoo-sites are made-up differently. So you have to code all the stuff again to get the right information. Another problem is for example by yahoo.de its very hard to see if there is a trailers available for a selected movie, without going through lost of url-requests to yahoo.de. Most movies on yahoo.de don't have trailers so very frustrating for users who think they are gonna see a trailer and get the announcement "No trailer available." But if someone wants to add it i have no problems with integrating it offcourse, but i am not planning on doing it as for now.

I like the idea, but i haven't come across a site yet that has this information for all countries or a wide-range of countries, like weather.com. So if you know a site with this information please tell me.

I will update the first post with what i am currently doing and what is first on my TODO-list, regarding mytrailers :wink:

Yea... that would be sweet!... Having a options to list movies in your area, and then have it download the coverart and the trailer for all the movies at certain theatres or something... or just anything that was out then. Like I said, if you could check release dates of the movies on the trailers and then just view the ones that came up within the past 2 weeks and then anything in the future... that would be cool!

once again about the movie showtimes:

yahoo.de for germany and yahoo.com for the us serve a lot of cities.
unfortunately for my city it is not available and the next city incomplete.
for nl yahoo does not seem to provide the service.

Conclusion: it seems to be a lot of work to get this up (different sites and layouts to grab) and keep it up to date.

==> Better wait for devo´s web-plugin and set a bookmark to your favourite movie theatre.
