Hi Rictec, dont worry you are not alone. I have been having trouble with this NVTV (Aopen2000) card for about a year. I had loads of trouble getting it to work, but once it was working (in a new xp system) was brilliant, in MP.
I managed to get the Nvidia multimedia app from my supplier (XFX) which i think was the key.
Unfortunatly i have taken it out of the 'new' system to put back into a dedicated tv pc running W2k, and you guessed it, it doesnt work properly.
have tried all sorts of reinstalling of RCx and versions but so far no joy. got the tuning working but no tv picture, not even able to turn it on. So, going to try some of the latest fixes posted here, now there are more people with this card.
The next thing i am going to try is reinstalling the actual nvidia app & older WHQL driver (1.20.19) (dvxplore.sys fix). Will let you know how i get on.
Hang on in there,

Quick update

went back to trying the nvtv card in my XP setup.
Reinstalled the MP 2.0 RC4 (but not the latest SVN, reinstalled Nvidia Multimedia App and MP seemed to be working lovely apart from the grey screen in MyTV which i never had before (TV comes on but it tuned all the channels with grey screens????). Anyway, couldnt find the 1.20.19 driver so but found a 1.10.19 driver and used the dvxplore.sys file from there.
It works! but, the sound sounds pretty bad, kind of jumpy.
So, going to try to find the 1.20.19 driver to see if that works.
I still think if you are having problems trying to get MP to work on an XP setup (using the NVTV (Aopen2000) card) you should try and get the nvidia multimedia app from somewhere, just to see if you can get your card working. I dont use the actual app, and might try and uninstall it once i get everythign working, it worked for me once before, but that was on an older version of MP.

Some progress!

I have mytv back and working, using my XFX NVTV single tuner. Going to keep this brief as poss after my last couple of posts.

How i got it to work:
1. uninstalled everything i could find to do with NVTV, including Nvidia dvd codec (I have an ATI GF card so didnt need to worry about that driver)
2. Uninstalled the NVTV card through System > Hardware > device manager etc
3. Uninstalled everything to do with MP, including folder left behind after uninstall.
4. Uninstalled Nvidia multimedia application
Did Reboot
5. Installed Aopen2000N driver from Aopen site http://download.aopen.com.tw/userdownload_List.aspx?RecNo=8796&Model=VA2000N - looks just like a very early NVTV driver
6. Unfortunately had to install WMP10 plus these patches https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=8146
7. Reinstalled .net 2.0 (just in case)
Did Reboot
8. Installed MP 0.2 RC1 (havent installed CVS or SVN yet) - run setup and tuned channels
Voila, it worked for me.

Now, i then installed PVR scheduler, but the only version that would talk to MP was version 1.3.3, which isnt perfect as it doesnt save the file name i give it in PVRS, but not too worried about that as i manually run the DVR-MS file through DVR-MS toobox (i think thats what is called) and rename the mpeg then.

So, this is all not a perfect solution, but will show you that the NVTV card works really well, when its working. I had to go back to 0.2 RC1 as it was the only version i could get working, i tried every other combination till i got there.

My next steps:
Install Nvidia dvd/mpg codec (gives a great picture when used for TV).
Install latest 0.2 RC1 CVS (where it could all go Pete Tong)
Update PVR Scheduler

The setup i have at the moment as i said is not the best, but gives me a recorded tv file (as long as PVR scheduler works) which is pretty much all i want. All the other cool features of MP dont interest me UNTIL the TV part works properly.

Good luck all you other NVTV owners

Dooda48 )

ps. PM if you have any questions about anything i havent covered

same here

Got the same problem. Bought the xfx nvtv single tuner card a few days ago, put it in my htpc and..... not much! I installed the driver package from nvidia. Nice grey picture with sound working. Weird that i get the same result in mediacenter.

So i installed my htpc completely from scratch again, i thought it could be that i installed too much crap on the machine, and that it caused the xfx not working. But, after having installed the computer and started mediaportal, i got the same grey picture. And again mediacenter gave the same result. Weird.

What i did noticed is that the driverpackage for the nvtv card is really old, from somewhere around 2004!!!

My latest assesment of the problem is that it is probably the result of a crappy driver. Dus anyone know if there is a newer driver for this card?

got it working

after having tryed about four or five driver versions, i took the liberty of installing the innodv dv-3300 drivers. For the first time the card really produces a recognizable image. It's all stil a bit unstable (mediaportal crashes occasionaly) but at least i've got something to look at; the grey image get's really boring after a few hours, trust me

wel i will start all over aggai with the latest svn

i have stoped trying to put rc4 to work cos the card works great in in 1.3 and my family use it a lot ....but ..
i will try aggain to make it work
as for driver version nvidia only makes a driver for mediacenter there isnt a driver for other OS even windows XP so keep this in mind this nvtv single tuner card is a mediacenter version only card as i was told.

i will start aggain something is wrong with it but i will not give up i will wait until other worst bugs are solved cos i dont wont another bug giving me bad results.
for now as i m not changing any drivers and it works with 1.3 why without changing drivers it wont work with RC4?

there is something diferent in it we cant see the its there....

i found something very interesting

so as i did what i said i wold do and remove 1.3 and put rc 4 with last svb of 12 06

i only use svideo in so it gives me an error that canot create graph and i click ok and so on until all is configured
now i hava a nice grey image but....i knows why it is grey...that a big step for me its grey cos my hue setting in the graph goes to zero or 0 and after i with tv working and going with graftedit on nvtv setting if you change the slider image appears
so for you who have this please test with me
open mediaportal in windows mode and go to my tv
image is grey right open graftedit on file do conect to remote grafh two process appears select the one with nvtv on it now on the colour setting move saturation and contrast and hue to the righ and aplly image sould appear right away....best setting for my pal_b version is

Brightness 5000
contrast 7000
hue 5000
saturation 6800

if you press the default button there hue goes to zero

now how can i made this changes permanent? well the camera icon in mediacenter dont change anything as no effect
a help from the developpers could solve this problem
insted of starup with 5000 in all settings they can give somewhere to change it to another setting and record it

i m so close i can smell it lol

any info you need please email me to rictec@rictec.homeip.net

the end of nvtv

Well, so much for my positive postings about the nvtv card. It has worked for exactly one day! So, when you got it working, never turn you computer of again!!!! put it on an permament powersupply, glue the powercables in the wall sockets, just doný do anything.

As for a last attempt, i've contacted xfx about the card. They really were helpfull....NOT. Here's what they got to say about it:

[dennis - 2006/06/08] The driver support for this card is terrible. I have installed five releases of the driver to try to get it to work. Just look around on the internet on the various forums and realise that al lot of people have great difficulties getting this card to work. MCE crashes when the tv tuner module is activated, mediaportal isn`t able to creath a working dx9 graph. The drivers are also very old. Please solve this problem. Since this card hasn`t been able to fulfill duty`s i really have to claim some sort of warranty. Please make this card work (for everybody). ps. it`s the single tuner nvtv card with lsi DVxpert 5140 encoder chip.

[TONY - 2006/06/13] Hi, thanks for your message and sorry to hear you are experiencing problems with your product, it always difficult to guarantee compatibility, but there is no inherent problem with the card in MCE with various driver releases, though we reccomend ftp://www.xfxsupport.com/public/driver/1.20.45_XP_MCE_2000_nvtv_whql.zip. PLease ensure you have SP2, mainboard chipset drivers, graphics drivers, tuner drivers then the forceware application in that order. Thanks Tony

So, as far is i'm concerned, get yourselfs a RMA on the card, i did! The webshop owner was so kind to let me trade it for a hauppauge wintv pvr150mce. Plugged it in the htpc and no worries anymore.

So, get yourselfs an hauppauge!
