Hi, first post and it just HAS to be a whinge doesn't it...!

(Apologies I wouldn't have posted this early but I hit return and couldn't find a Delete button to rescind it).

Trying to install TVServer/Engine, single seat. Clean install of Windows MCE 2005, fully patched (except for a hardware driver that kills my onboard audio).

Installed mediaPortal previously (even paid some money as I liked it) and it worked fine, Installed SQL etc. that connects OK and SQLBrowser is running.

Install TVServer (TVE - what shoudl I call it?), no problems. Sees both my cards (Nebual DigiTV and FloppyDTV on Horbird currently)

Go into MediaPortal and select [My] TV and black screen with "(Missing or invalid file" error. Search forums and find I need the SVN as it is missing a skin (I was using Blue Wide).

Download SVN and run it and it comes up with an exception saying $(Name) has encountered an error (or some such phrasing) and wants to close.

So, obviously I'm doing something wrong but what...?

I watched the videos, read the instructions and (missed the bit about remote acces at first but changed that via the administror configuration).

I'm not totally stupid, I am a developer myself (working on a plugin for MediaPortal myself - just for fun at the moment) but I'm missing something.

I have done clean installs of mediaPortal and TVServer, first one and then the other and then the other way around. Removed TVServer to try to run the SVN and it still comes up with the same error.

The programs I downloaded are -
    MediaPortal_0_2.3.0_Setup
    MediaPortal_svn-04-08-2008--05-05Rev18584
    tvengine3-04-08-2008--05-08h--Rev18584

    All downloaded this morning.

Any help appreciated (and I look forward to a 'real' release), all the hard work is also appreciated, maybe I can write something that others may use too!

    Hi
I have exactly the same problem when I run svn 18584, and have exactly the same MP software configuration you are trying:
    MediaPortal_0_2.3.0_Setup
    MediaPortal_svn-04-08-2008--05-05Rev18584
    tvengine3-04-08-2008--05-08h--Rev18584

I haven't found a way to search the forum for $(Name), and couldn't find anything on a manual search.

The error I have is "$(NAME) has encountered a problem and needs to close". the application is the svn 18584 file.
    Modname is xml.dll
    Offset is 0000dbd0

I've given up for today and rolling back to previous image so I can watch some TV:-(

Hope we can get some guidance for a re-run next weekend:))

    Cheers
    ...Steve

OK, I'll try to curb my impatience for RC1.

For your info (if it helps), the MP SVN installed fine on a Vista lpatop but not on clean installs (with 100+ patches - roll on XP SP3) on Xp MCE or XP Pro.

Oh, and don't think I am not totally amazed at how much work you guys put into this - I really understand how difficult it is (I've just spent days chasing a C++ CASyncSocket problem!).

I hope everyone who uses this realises how much goes into it!

Well done guys, now knuckle down and get Version 1 out <grin>!!! :D

I hope my next post is something constructive (currently looking at getting UK Sky on MediaPortal, works via FloppyDTV hence I wanted TVE). Didn't like the idea of using MCE and setting it up as a "DVB-T" card.

Spening FAR too much money and time on this (ask my wife!).

    Thanks Spragleknas et al.

Will try your fix this weekend (unless RC1 is out by then!).

I turned off spybot resident and disabled my AVG free. That worked for me. I think I read to try putting the SVN in your mediaportal folder and running it from there. Can't confirm that one though. Good Luck TVE3 is fantastic.
