    AW: Native Blu-ray support

i just tested a few more Bluray-Rips and it seems i get stuttering/low framerates with all VC1-encoded movies - h264-encoded movies run fine. I selected the LAV codec for VC1, a change to ffdshow dxva didn't improve the playback. The CPU utilization during playback is at about 20 % on one core. DTS/DTS HD or AC3 audio stream also doesn't change anything.

Examples for stuttering: Johnny English, Harry Potter 1 and 2.

Added Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Up to the Wiki. Pirates starts right away, no menu (BD-J), doesn't display subtitles, but can change audio. Up started around the 10th minute or so. doesn't either display subtitles but can change the audio.

Edit: Reinstalled SAF6, and now I can see the subtitles but I think something happened when I ripped the UP disk to my HDD, it is only 50 minutes, so I will have to look into that, but it plays ok.
In the config I use English Audio and Icelandic subtitles, the audio works ok, tried both English and Icelandic, but MP doesn't grab the subtitle config.

Forgot to remind that for best results please use LAV audio and video decoders + MS directshow default audio renderer. These all can be configured under the MP config's codec section. This is mainly because whole development has been done by using LAV audio and video decoders (with some extend also the Windows 7's native codecs have been used - but they aren't supporting all audio formats).

For non-Nvidia users it is probably wise to use some Cyberlink or Arcsoft decoder to handle the VC1 content (LAV has no support fir interlaced VC1 content on non-Nvidia GPUs).

Do you have a Nvidia GPU?

I knew I'd read that the Arcsoft decoder was suggested for VC-1 :D.

@ tourettes, based on my results while using it, it might be worth changing that post. Of cause the problems I had could be specific to the setup I used for testing?

    Cheers,

    Mick.

It’s only a problem with VC1i (interlaced), VC1p (progressive) works fine with LAV.
Never tried Arcsoft, but PDVD can handle it, so can also Microsoft’s decoder.
The best solution for interlaced VC1 is a Nvidia GPU with Cuvid

Re: AW: Re: Native Blu-ray support

Based on the wiki, following samples would be nice to receive:
Simply Red - Farewell - Live In Concert At Sydney Opera House

    uploaded as BR-iso.

    eagle

    Hi,

Can you reupload (without the iso because first clip are not complete) ?
Upload all little file and a 1 or 2 minutes of main clip (m2ts) :)
    Thanks :)

Yep - hard to say what to recommend. I guess only option is Cyberlink (I haven't tested it myself so I have no clue if it even works).

About the subtitles, check BDReader.log in what format the subtitles are:

    19-11-2011 14:19:45.417 [ 10dc] Subtitle [4608] eng PGS
    19-11-2011 14:19:45.417 [ 10dc] Subtitle [4609] eng PGS

They could be in text which is not supported at the moment.

About the "Up", sounds like a bug in the libbluray. I would require a sample of that blu-ray, but it will be quite huge upload (%GB maybe?) to allow the 10 minute amount of the main movie to be played.
